Genosse?

Post by :FI:Ghost » Thu Oct 25, 2007 7:35 am

Hey Genosse. I need some help from you. There's this german song from the WW II that I like very much, and I've been trying to translate it. I've translated almost the whole thing, but the last section is difficult. Could you help me with it? The song is Westervald and the last section is this:

Ist das tanzen dann vorbei,
Gibt´s gewöhnlich Keilerei,
Und dem Bursch, den das nicht freut,
sagt man, er hat kein Schneid.
*Bury me at sea where no murdered ghosts can haunt me, if I rock upon the waves then no corpse can lay upon me*

No guarantee of correct translation and no guarantee of riming sentences though ...

I hope the sence is clear to you, B! ;)

'tis a funny word...

rhyming ...and one of those that if you didn't know how to spell it, you would struggle to find it in a dictionary!

Riming (or is it rimming??) could have a bit of a different meaning ;)

as in the edge of a bowl or cup

and then there's rimming.

Erm, sure Boris..it means- 'Take a left, then a right, then go North, make a 180 degree turn and go South, then you'll end up in front of the old AB's House of Ill-repute and Pancakes.'

I hope you know I'm just joking.

Joking you say, hmm, it's weird but you got it RIGHT - It does mean 'Take a left, then a right, then go North, make a 180 degree turn and go South, then you'll end up in front of the old AB's House of Ill-repute and Pancakes.

Congratulations man! You have earned yourself a fake cheque on 999$ and a free medical checkout at our local Institute for weird science (where nice and friendly people in white probe your body holes and make you run backwards on your hands)
