I think the way to go is to have a definite start time.
Congregate on TS and HL between 7.30 and 7.45pm and then launch mission (at hosts discretion) at 7.45pm.
I would also not allow any "backdoor" entries as these seem to cause most of the problems - if you miss the HL launch thats it and you wait for the next mission. Flight times for most of the Eastern Front missions will be shorter than the Pacific so the waiting time for the next one to start should not be as long anyway.
Just a couple of thoughts but there was definitely a lot of friction last Sunday (even between mates) and having 15 people waiting 20 minutes or more for one person to sort out their game is not really on.

Historic Encounters has a start time. Folks are always welcome to join anytime, but shortly after 10:00 p.m. we get underway. There have been times when someone is definitely having problems, and I have delayed too long.
As host NEVER ask for a vote from others whether to wait. They are too polite.
Seriously. My position, which has developed over many months of hosting these sessions, is to get the flying underway as soon as possible. The next 3-4 hours is precious recreational time for all of us. Of course we hope the mate having trouble will join us in the next sortie.
- Have a posted start time. Encourage folks to come prepared.
- If we have just launched and someone shows up I will restart (often without asking). However, if we have flown for a bit the newcomer will have to wait.
- We will re-start on mishaps during takeoff. Folks who seem to be struggling after a couple tries usually pull themselves off the roster and practice until the next mission.
- We wait for everyone to land, unless there are only one or two folks left and they are not in any immediate danger, before generating the next mission.
- Folks are always welcome to join/leave in between missions.
Being host can be difficult, right guys? Never do we want to have anyone not have a good time, or feel for a second the decision to proceed without them meant anything other than needing to keep the session moving smoothly forward. The reality is everyone feels badly when the gang leaves them behind while they try to resolve their technical issues. I'm sure some have felt this way on Friday nights. And yet I know others have been frustrated by long delays. I try to be fair and objective, sticking to my general rules so no one feels it’s personal ('cause it really is not!).

Good missions last night (and the "afters" hosted by Pike). No problems my end in spite of the fact that I was
running with no page file,
(I'd reset it to run on F: and forgot to allocate size - doh!)
Ran into problems trying the UQMB '46 update. but all fixed now.
Anyway it shows the missions were well crafted.

... and my stats aren't there at all.
Is that because I died more than I flew yesterday?
Yeah ... prolly.
Oh, I found out that my bomb delay was set to 0.0.
I guess that's a wee bit short for low bombin' wiff 250kg loads, eh?
I had a great time! Flyin' a bomber is fun!
But next week I want to go back and fly with the men.

Yeh, a bomb delay of 0.0 will certainly make low level attacks "interesting":FI:Falcon wrote:... and my stats aren't there at all.

I have mine set to 5.0 which seems to be enough to clear the blast area.
I think you should go back to "fly with the men" next week Falcon - you obviously don't have the right stuff to make a good bomber pilot

And remember, if you have a fighter you might be fast enough to run away....................... but not in an I16
