New Campaign - The Goths Ride East
OK - now Pearl to Japan is over (kind of) I would like to start a new thread for the Eastern Front campaign I would like to offer you.
Title of the Campaign is provisionally "The Goths Ride East" - but any better ideas on this?
Vin has kindly offered to do the hosting again and I will write the missions - although any help on this will be gratefully received.
Maps will be used in the following order and rough time lines
Lvov - Summer 41
Smolensk - Summer 41
Kiev - Autumn 41
Crimea - Autumn 41
Moscow - Autumn/Winter 41
Kuban - Summer 42
Stalingrad - Autumn/Winter 42 to 43
Kursk - Summer 43
Kuban - Autumn 43
Crimea - Autumn 43
Smolensk - Spring/Summer 44
Kiev - Summer 44
Balaton - Autumn 44
Berlin - Spring 45
I have looked at medals and ranks and subject to some help from Admin we can get stats etc up on the website.
Oh well - time to get writing the missions!

Lookin' good Nelli!
"The Goths Ride East" sounds fine. Being an old board gamer I can recall another good title: "Drang Noch Osten" and its sequel "Unentschiden".
Frank, help with the spelling and translation here please.
The first means something like urge toward the east
and the second title has something to do with sausages and latex gloves ...
or something.
But "Goths ... " is neat. Just give me time to find my leather boots and hood and cape.

"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."

Well, Herr Schtuart!:FI:Falcon wrote:"Drang Nach Osten" and its sequel "Unentschieden".

"Der Drang nach Osten" really means "The urge towards the east". But "Unentschieden" has nothing to do with sausages and/or latex gloves. It´s simply "even" or "undecided". Maybe there´s a correlation to sausages, gloves and sheeps ...
Who knows?

We will fly red - VVS - so get ready for some tough missions early on in the campaign:FI:Macca wrote:Are we going to play the Dark Side (Axis) or the Dark Side (USSR) of the force?
For the first 5 Lvov missions we will fly either I16's or IL2's so make sure you have the skins downloaded for these.
I have some idea on medals similar to the PtoJ campaign - with the same level of awards (although don't think many people will be sinking ships ) - in order as follows:
Medal for Bravery
Order of the Red Star
Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class
Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class
Order of the Red Banner
Order of Lenin
Hero of the Soviet Union
If this order is wrong let me know!

Yes - the :FI::FI:Macca wrote:Is the campaign going to be a story of a specific squadron/squadrons?
Seriously I originally was just going to write a Stalingrad campaign - which is finished, with 21 missions in total - and that was based on 2 Squadrons, the 7th GvSHap and the 9th GvIAP. Since then it has kind of expanded into a full Eastern Front campaign (excluding Leningrad/Finland) and the FI skin project has come along, so if we are going to use the FI skins then the concept of using an historical squadron is probably irrelevant?
Not sure what others think but I would say using the FI skin pack will mean using a specific squadron is pointless?

Scott:FI:Scott wrote: I would help with the missions if you want me to, but be warned I am in the uber-noob category in that respect.
I am not exactly an expert myself! Not compared to the masters like Genosse, Ardmore, and others anyway.
If you are serious send me a PM and I can go through aircraft, maps and numbers of missions required etc.

Wow, the're sweet, Gen
For the glory of the Soviet Union, Tavarish Polkovnik!
How about adding the Order of Glory 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class?
"The Order of Glory, modelled closely upon the Tsarist Cross of St. George, was awarded to non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the armed forces, as well as junior lieutenants of the air force, for bravery in the face of the enemy. A person initially received the third degree, and would subsequently be promoted to higher degrees for further acts of bravery."

I think "The Order of Glory" is the same as the "Medal for Bravery" - gets translated differently on different sites. I did not know there were different levels though.
I have just tried to map some awards to the same triggers as Ardmore used for the Pacific campaign so I needed the same number.
If we want more levels with more medals I can look at it.
By the way Genosse - thanks for finding some better pictures than the ones I sent you
