Looked at the Starfighter cockpit, too. Interesting Aviation Trivia...all the early jet fighters had a vibrator built into the panel. The jet was so smooth it was necessary so the pre-jet instruments would function correctly. Problem was the pre-jet instruments had a lot of "slop" built into their mechanics to handle the vibration from the piston engines. The vibration would then help them operate as designed. The lack of vibration in the jets required an artificial vibration be induced so the instruments would work correctly! This was normally turned ON before any attempt to use other instruments or start the engine.
