At long last I got my beast of a machine working! I suppose if the stupid manual would have listed a configuration that makes no sense rather than the config it did, I would have been flying the cyber skies with you boys a lot sooner. Anyhow, I should be up and flying by tomorrow. Cya then.

now, now... calm thyself, Zeke.
take a deep breath, down a bottle of ludes and wash them down with stout Irish whisky and a beer or two... then take a hammer to the infernal machine!
you'll feel much better then.
afterwards, patiently explain to the little woman that you need a NEW puter, and ask her if it'd be okay to 'skip' the house payment this month and do without grocerys. sure, that'll work.
(keep your fingers on the cell phone's 911 buttons though when you do that, immediate medical attention could be needed.)
hope to see ya flyin' soon.

Heh, was just about to take a 5lb sledge to the machine when a email arrived from ASUS tech support. "Silly rabbit," it said, "you're supposed to take the SATA cable and attach it to the SATA_RAID connection on the motherboard, not the SATA connection as mentioned in the manual. Then, even though it is attached to the SATA_RAID connection, you are to load the SATA drivers when Windows is loading, not the SATA_RAID drivers, even though its attached to that port....and, well, nevermind that the manual says nothing to that affect, anywhere, and well, yes, we know it doesn't make a bit of sense...what, you didn't get the memo? Oh dear...."
At any rate things are working although there is some goofiness with my second IDE back up drive, which is not important at the moment. I am getting all my stuff reinstalled. FP works fine and I was able to get into HL for about fifteen minutes or so today. Couldn't find any Irish so I beat up on some other fellows. Got two kills, damaged two, and made it home alive after being chased while out of ammo. All in one flight. Not bad for being grounded for over a month!
Flew a Yak-3. Its like my beloved Hurricane but loops and climbs better!
