The updater refuses to install because it says my version of C++ is a newer version??????????????????????????????????????????????
WTF!!!!!!!!

So I have a great install of HSFX 6.0.1, but can't update.

How the HELL do I go retro with C++ !!!????? When I try to do the installer it won't overwrite my "newer" version.

I myself jumped over the edge eyes closed when I saw that window pop up asking me to Repair or Remove C++. I opted repair, and haven't noticed any issues. But I'm not even sure what C++ does for me anyways.

According to the 242 squad website, they deliberately used an earlier version of C++ in order to make the updater compatible with the earlier versions of Windows that some people are still running. If you game is running OK before using the installer (no corrupted HSFX files as turned out to be the problem in Dan's case) you should just click OK and run the updater.

I had that message too, but updater installed, Newer versions of C++ should be backward compatible.
