Windows 7 OEM or retail

Post by :FI:Noter » Mon May 02, 2011 7:09 pm

Still not really clear on the differences between the two. The biggest difference to me is the OEM is $100 and the retail is $200. That's a very big important difference to me. Any suggestions? I doubt I will be getting a second pc of any kind except when this one becomes extinct (I'd give it about six months).

I'm gonna go with the OEM, half the price and I don't need to put multiple copies of Windows 7 on other pc's. If something goes wrong I'll just call and get a new key over the phone (easier said than done, I know).

You probably won't ever have to call Support, and the only real difference is the level of Support offered.
I've been using various iterations of OEM for years and had no problems.
The only time you might need to call Support is if you change your MB and CPU.
Go with the OEM.

Yup, get the OEM.... unless you really think you need the support element.

I have installed from teh same OEM disk onto a couple of PC's here with no probs.
