Ideas for Sunday 7th Feb
I have been thinking about what we could do in 4.09 vanilla on Sunday, and thought maybe something using the Leningrad map?
We haven't flown that map at all in campaigns in the past (to my knowledge anyway) and it therefore has some novelty value there. Navigation is fairly easy (lots of landmarks) so we should be able to fly without minimap to make it interesting. It used to be we avoided that map because the ground objects resulted in low frames and stutter, but that was 5 years ago and the computers we are all running now and better connection speeds should make that a thing of the past- he hopes
I will write a DF mission first as a warm up and then a couple of coops. I will do missions for red fighter, red ground attack, blue fighter and blue ground attack. The seige of Leningrad was 900 days I think, so should keep us going for a while

cool!
"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."

Map can be a bit laggy Neil, great map though with the added advantage the front was very static for a long time, also the majority of the fighting was around the coast road within 10mls of the shore line more or less. Lot's of options, hell for the VVS till mid 44 though, going to put in some Snow Nazi's?

Re: Ideas for Sunday 7th Feb
Dogfight and one coop written so far - hopefully I'll get one more coop written by Sunday.
Setting is December 41, so winter map and skins. Will be just Luftwaffe v VVS to start with but may get the Finns involved for blue later on (including those planes with ski's ).
16 seats in the coop (not counting rear gunners in the Stukas) as follows:
VVS - 4 x LaGG3, 4 x IL2 single seaters
Luftwaffe - 4 x Bf109F2, 4 x Ju87
First coop involves the famous ice road across Lake Lagoda.......

Re: Ideas for Sunday 7th Feb
Yes - low alt in an IL2 is good fun, but on testing the mission earlier I noticed a graphics issue when flying low over forests. When flying at less than 500 feet the forest texture changes to big square blocs, above 500 feet it looks fine. It's definitely altitude related and I have never had it on any other map. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Second coop now done.
Mig3's for the reds, 109F's for blue (8 a side).

Re: Ideas for Sunday 7th Feb
A wee thought Neil regarding fighters. The Mig and the F2 are a good matchup, both fast for 41, pretty fragile and crap guns. The LaGG however has the DM of a rhino in a suit of armour inside a battleship and I've unload many a time those less than braw 15mm cannon the F2 has into one and they just kept skooting along. Pk's your best bet there.
So what about the E-7 although it's slower than the F its got the cannons to do the job. Actually E7 v Yak1 is a really good match I find?
Either that or unlimited ammo
