Re: Snow!
Reminds me of my kidhood back in Montana!
We used to built forts with 6-foot walls.
Cracks me up the way the major networks blow things out of proportion, though...
2" of snow in Vermont and it's tantamount to a disaster!!!!
10" of rain in Louisiana and it's Katrina all over again!!!
Idiots.

Re: Snow!
Nice pics, Mike.
Let's see yours now Graham.
I agree totally, Dan.
Weather here in North TX yesterday through tomorrow is colder than we've seen for several years, dropping to about 13-15 degrees F at night, but there have been much longer below-freezing stretches in the past, often involving ice storms. All we saw this time was some VERY light freezing drizzle Wednesday overnight, but to hear the media the next morning you would have thought the whole area was on its knees, paralized. The reality? Drove to work yesterday morning at 65+mph the whole way. Otherwise just wear an extra layer occasionally.
Just a page in their book of "if there's no story, create an imaginary one using exagerration and hysteria."
As with lawyers here in the U.S., there are definite exceptions to the rule, but overall reporters have earned a spot just barely north of pond scum on my personal evolutionary scale, based on the combination of my first-hand experience in the past, and everyday observations since then.

classic
only about 1.5cms in Galway. Just enough for a very small snow man.
Lake in Loughre frozen though. First time since 1947. We had a little walk on it but only went about 3 feet out.

Re: Snow!
Heard something about an iceberg a kilometre away from a lighthouse somewhere northwest of Donegal?
Is that right?
