The link Gadje posted about Leningrad/St. Petersburg reminded me of an exhibition I saw some time ago. Now found it on the net - it is called The City of Pheonix (not the US one) - War*saw everything.

What I believe is worth adding it is some collage / photomontage of old pictures with news snapshots in the same place. Not the documentary stricto sensu.
