Re: How we should fly
Christ we're the FI not the red arrows The only time we get as close as that is when we're all chasing the same kill
I recon it would take a lot of training for us to get anywhere near that level.

lol!
Man wouldn't it be nice though being 1k above those 4 mustangs in a 190 A-9 at the start of the video.
Four kills in one pass

Re: How we should fly
One well placed 88mm and you may have to re think your flight plan
Re: How we should fly
This is based simply on my previous expereince but in bombers it can work quite well. Life is made alot easier if you are a set amount lower than the guy infront of you and same for person behind you, that way gunnery works better and if some1 suffers sudden deceleration, they just fly over the top of the person behind em... not into em

Re: How we should fly
Well in my experience, today's close formation flying while on a bomb run when I lost my leader below my nose and then got fixated with the target, carefully calculating (FI style)the exact release point for the 250kg bomb. Then BAM up comes your leader from under you nose (he was really low), your finger jerks, and you release the bomb to early and fly through the explosion of your leader's 2 second delay , with rudder/flap control gone, a fuel leak and, a sick sounding engine, I ca reamed into the side of the ridge.
Re: How we should fly
Aye close formation is only really usefull for higher altitude level bombing. i tend to not trust bomb delays when working as a team as its just as easy to come in at the wrong moment and get all roasty from someone else's bomb ... then again trying to hit with accuracy from a distance is a pain in the arse... for me atleast
