Guys
I'm having some issues with compatibility for vista.
I can install the game fine using the a.exe installer and the game runs fine for twenty minutes or so.
then my computur takes it upon itself to warn me of counterfeit software and deletes the il2fb.exe file from my hard drive.
I can get the game running again by copying and pasting the il2fb file from the cd. but get the same problem again.
Anybody else had this issue and maybe know anything about it?
Im at my wits end!

Re: 1946 and Vista
Never had THAT kind of issues.
And I suppose it's not Vista but any kond of securit software you're using.
Vista blocks the usage of a file but ne'er hear that it simply deletes files.
Deleting of files in use is at least comlicated.
Any misterious software running in the backgrounds?

Re: 1946 and Vista
There have been known issues with Il2 and Vista- fortunately, it's easily fixed; When you install Il2, do NOT let it install to your C/Program Files! Create a new folder and call it whatever you like (I use "Games") and install the game there.
As long as it's not seeing it in Program Files, Vista will not treat it as a security threat.
I have two copies of Il2 running on my Vista 32 machine with no issues. I simply copied both from an old HD I have slaved to my PC which has XP installed on it (from my previous PC).

Have you got the UAC turned off ?. You might also want to have a look into whatever your virus software is up to.

Re: 1946 and Vista
If I remember correctly there was an issue with the secur rom software with some dvdreaders/writers a while ago. I had it happen to me on my old machine and eventually I had to send a file to secur rom for them to sort out.
These days if I have to re-install the game I use a nocd exe file from www.gamescopyworld.com which overwrites the secure rom and lets me play without the disc in

Re: 1946 and Vista
think I've sorted it now thanx guys.
no idea what the problem was but I've denied the system permission to delete the file. I still get the warnings but theyre not interfering with the game anymore
