Seeking MB Drivers

Post by :FI:Murph » Fri Aug 22, 2008 5:20 am

I got myself an HP desktop, not realizing that they were so secretive about the drivers needed for the motherboard. Apparently HP has ASUS build them a special board just for their desktops, and the driver updates are not available at the ASUS website. This must be to keep folks from doing their own computer maintainance.
The board is an IPIBL-LA, also known as a BERKELEY-GL8E.
It uses an Intel G33 chipset.
Does anyone here know where to get drivers for this board?

But drivers for MB itself? I believe drivers are to be gathered separately for each device like on the links above presented.

Thanks Mefisto- the problem is precisely that- I can't get the MB drivers anywhere because they're not available to the public, only to HP.

Sorry to hear that and to be that useless :(

Anyway you may try the third link to get chipset driver by intel.
Later to use some system information programmes to get the variation of the onboard soundsystem you have etc...

I ended up paying $29.95 for a program called Driver Detective, that scans my system and gets the appropriate driver updates automatically. It seems even then there is a rather convoluted procedure for updating chipset drivers.
It used to be easy for my older ASUS MB, all I had t do was use Asusupdate, and tell it to install them. Now you have to take special measures to bypass Vista's little foibles.
Edit; Using Driver Detective I was able to update- all is well now.
