Poor Herb was also instrumental in making new flyable copies of the ME-262. However, his unwillingness to compromise led to a rift in the partnership and the money people took the unfinished planes elsewhere to be finished.
A few folks that I know who know Herb say he is an unrelenting taskmaster, but he is also a gifted designer.
