Hello !

Post by :FI:Airway » Sun Nov 04, 2007 12:47 pm

Dia dhuit !

Hello to all the lads of the grand Fightin´ Irish squadron!
I just filled out the application form some hours ago and now I find myself registered in this forum already to introduce myself.

Who am I?
Good question. So here´s an overview:
My nickname for years in the Il-2 online flying world is Airway, my real name is Marco.
I´m from Germany, 31 years young and been flying with Il-2 since Forgotten Battles was released -at that time offline mostly.
I was flying online since Warbirds 2.77 on the famous Freehost servers together with the StG2 Immelmann squad witch switched to Il-2 in 2004.
Still a great squad, but I left them because of the strict training times on mondays wich I couldn´t join because of work or evening school.
Yes, I´m going to evening school for a postgraduate professional education to one day become a technician / engineer for building machines and installations.
Time is rare but I still can´t get rid of this simulation but flying alone is useless I found out every time the wings of my playes got loose or the screen got black in a strange way.
Anyway, I´m able to fly fighters and bombers, so in a way I´m multitalented what also means that I´m not the best at all :D

As everything Irish was ever my interest, like music, history, whiskey and so on, I found the FI squad soon and my interest in joining was growing.
The only thing what kept me from filling out the form ´til yesterday was that the FI is a non German language squad. I don´t know how good or bad my English is, but let me know how I can approve it.

So here I am and now I tell you something ´bout wainscoting:
I didn´t knew about it since yesterday because here in Germany they glue paper to the walls !
Anyhow - what I first thought when I heard "wainscoting" was : "With the left or with the right hand?!?"

So that´s it for now.
If any question is left, then please let me know and get back to you as soon as I can.

Slán,
Airway[/i]

Willkommen auf unserem schwarzen Brett, Marco!

Welcome to the boards, m8!

Another German fellow who likes to fly with the infamous FISWFOMBOB (Fighting Irish Squadron waiting for Oleg Maddox´s BOB). I´ve to admit that the majority of our blokes isn´t that often online anymore but believe me when I say that we´re still alive!!! :D

Anyhow, if you like to see a bunch of FIS chaps online join us today at 20.30 CET on Hyperlobby or upcoming Saturday on 0300 CET (... in aller Herrgottsfrühe ...) to another Historic Encounters mission! Join us on our TS server and we´ll show you the right way! ;)

Talking about your English ... it´s simply brilliant! No doubt about it ... so have no worries to join the club because the chaps here even undestand me ... sometimes! Nicht wahr, Jungs????

See you soon in the virtual blue!

S! Airway ^:)

Thanks for the warm welcome, Genosse.

I was searching for Teamspeak server Ip and password but found none.
Would be nice if you could give me a hint and I´ll try joining this evening if I can make it home ´til then.

Is 20:30 CET 21:30 German winter time  :?:

Airway, check your PMs! ;)

Actually 2030 CET (Central European Time) is 20.30 Uhr German time = 1930 British Standard Time ...

Sometimes it´s so confusing!

Geez Airway, you can teach some of our native English speakers a thing or two! Good to have you here. Try to stop by today and join in the fun.

Back in hangar.

Was a fun evening :D
I enjoyed listening to all the different accents what was sometimes hard to follow.

This time I´ve been a bit shy in the background but i´m really enjoying this and hopefully I´m invited to join the next online session with you.

It´s really a bunch of interesting people in the FI squad wich I´d like to get to know more.
Next saturday I think I´m not able to join your session as it is a 3:30 in the morning and I have to get up at 6 for some 5 hours of school - but I´ve entered all of todays´s sessions pilots into my hyperlobby friend list and will look into the HL all over the following week to catch some of you to support in a game.

If you guys have some questions directed at me feel free to ask.
I really like the FI squad and hopefully you don´t kick me out in a vote in future. :?

Take care guys - hope to see and support you soon

Good night,

Airway

Phew, ...

... I´m quite glad that we didn´t scare you off after this evening. Naw, not because of Pike´s accent but more of the obviously not well organized missions running with the sound mod. We´re still sorting out all the troubles with it ... yet to be honest it´s really a boost for IL-2 and I don´t like to miss it.

Just in case there should be any troubles on next Sunday I could still host one of those DF missions you can find in the "Download" section of the main site. They´re all 4.08 compatible!

Anyway, it´s good to hear that you haven´t lost your interest, Marco!

Nice to have you join us on Sunday M8. ^:)

The coop disasters were all Genosse's fault. As our 'Organiser Supremo' he took all the credit for the one time that things ran smoothly back in the famous 'We all took off without crashing co-op' of 2004. However since then .............

As far as your English is concerned would you be interested in some lessons?.........giving them that is!
Pike in particular could do with a top-up course. All the boys 'Dan Saf' truly murder the Queens good English........ as aw' Scots ken ;) .

Hope to see you aboard again S!

:D

So, when´s the next action taking place?
I will sneak into HL or TS to look after somebody to fly with, until the week.

I´m looking forward to install the soundmod thingies.
Could need some assistance, looks really confusing sometimes - or is it only the .92 mod that has to be installed?

Slán,

Airway
