I had a 420 mile drive this weekend in our new 'van' and went to a place near Birmingham (I know!) anyway managed to drive the distance there (210 miles) in just over 2 and a half hours (even taking on board the speghetti junction nightmare and numerous country lanes)
Get this, started on a full tank of fuel in the diesel turbo van (sounds wondeful... TURBO!) and on the way back was near empty on fuel so I slowed down to about 56 mph - about half a mile later drove past a policemen hiding in the hedge with a speed camera.. whats the chances!?
Yeah I know, boring story etc etc but I just had to share it!

I drive my van at 55 - 60 mph on the highway.
Sorry, I learned to drive in the early 70's and the "55 and stay alive" thing just stuck.
The pilot training reinforced it too I s'pose.

84mph average?
Hell, a J-3 Cub can do that.
On the other hand, I'd say you were pokin some diesel though that rig.

Funny you should quote that

Why are you teasing me like this, Wayne? After my van is gone to the holy scrap yard? Why?

Oh no, a dead Van Frank?
I must admit I lost a couple due to they're old age and such, but I seriously feel your pain - nothing worse then the lose of a van in the family. Any pics of it?
