Elementary stuff that may be useful in sessions.

standard rate turn:

* A turn of three degrees compass heading per second

kinna close to 30 degree bank - takes one minute to turn 180 degrees - angle of bank dependant on speed

artificial horizon

0 degree bank (with ball in center above, indicates coordinated flight*)

~~~

30 degree bank (with ball in center above, indicates coordinated turn*)

~~~

60 degree bank (with ball in center above, indicates coordinated turn*)

*Coordinating your turns will help you lose less energy. It helps the tail to generate less drag out of the slip stream.

Here are some RPM setings for the P-40-105M

Engine:
Klimov M-105P
Power: 1,100 HP

Take-Off Speed: 160 km/h / 95 kts
Landing Speed: 155 km/h / 85 kts
Combat Engine Setting: 3,000 RPM
Best Cruise: 2,600 RPM
Economy Cruise: 2,500 RPM
Prop Pitch Control:
Manual Mixture Control:
Manual Boost: No
Supercharger: No

Yes you spelled "position" wrong in the diagram.

Great diagram Falcon! Could you do one more for the 90-degree turn mate? That would be a great reference for everyone.

Indeed, PMs have gone out to Blue2 and Soda regarding our two training sessions. I think folks enjoyed them a lot, and are all looking forward to seeing these things implemented in Historic Encounters (and elsewhere).

It was great seeing 2Step and Airhawk during these sessions. I hope we didn't bore you lads, and please do join us in H.E. where we get to use the trigger too.

I enjoyed the discussion that followed afterwards. Looking forward to some dedicated combat training soon. Have some things in the works to keep the sessions exciting, I hope, for everyone involved (or soon to be involved) with H.E.

Which 90 degree turn Tact, are you sure you were paying attention

Ok, Blue we've gotta do it one more time for Tactical (gotta bust your chops Tact).

Could you do two more Falcon? One for the the Tac 90 and one for the In Place 90. I'll throw in the Shackle too, you know in your spare time and all. I know you're busy with that second job as an exterminator.

Now, if I can remember the Inplace 90/180 stuff,

then there's the Tac 45 R/L

and the Shackle is just a little of wiggling to swap posssitions ... right?

One question. I found that climbing in a P-47 a chore. Or any aircraft for that matter. If I'm at level flight at, say 300 Kph and I want to climb, say 1,000 m higher, what controls do I need? I can nose down for awhile and throttle up but that mean making more than 1,000m for the climb.

I have no idea if this info is accurate. It might be data collected from an old game, but it doesn't seem too far off and can be used as a reference for testing.
