Think my PC needs a clean up...

Post by Skipper » Fri Aug 11, 2006 12:34 pm

Recently when i've been playing il2 my PC seems to take ages to load and I get quite a bif og lag when playing on some of the DF servers and co-ops....i've lowered my settings alot from what they used to be but I still get low fps at time.My question is....is it a sign of il2 becoming more powerful or does my PC just need everything wiped and started again? ;)

Skipper

PS-If it needs a clean up what's the safest/quickest/easiest idiot proof way to do one?

Clean out all those Temporary internet files,cookies and the IL2 net cache, then de-frag.

I also recently set my sound in IL2 to "safe DirectX" settings.

All of the above have helped speed things up a bit on my rig.

Thanks Sneaky , i'll try those.

Also I'm having problems connecting to certain servers recently beacuse of time outs.Never had this before but dearly hope I can get it sorted before the co-op tmw...

Anyone got any suggestions?

Ad-aware, to remove spyware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Spybot search & destroy, same stuff:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ewido anti-malware, also same. Pretty slow scanspeed here, but can usually find some "ie-cache", even if you dont use IE. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

With RegCleaner you can get rid of all unwanted registry information, remove programs from startup etc. http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-downlo ... ner4.3.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dr.Delete. I havent tried this, but I heard its pretty good. With it you can remove the "you cant romeve this file because some other software uses it"-files. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark, ... ~mode=flat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just to name a few :)
