I have to say it looks quite good....quite an improvement on Close Cmmbat's graphics :)

That does look pretty badass! I am looking forward to at least one of the WWII titles being good this Fall.

Just as long as they keep Oleg from the interface/presentation. ;)

And I realize Oleg's group is not directly working on this sim.

It is not a sim, TactS, it is an RTS.

It has been in development at least since 2002, maybe earlier.

I strongly believe it will be a goooood game.

If I could I'd preorder it...

Mac

Edited

And the whole 1C is "Oleg's group". He is the Tzar, u know....

I've looked at the boards there and there are some things that started to worry me....No possibility of getting into buildings nor hand to hand combat...Lads that have been playing the recent builds claim it is not a must in this game , as most fighs take part in rural areas and the game itself s not concentrated around urban fights.

We'll see.anyway I want it already.

But as a RTS, not a FPS, did you expect to be able to enter buildings mate? Nothing to be worried about, right? If this is a great game I would certainly pick it up, but for now have my mind set in the Middle Ages. ;)

I was thinking about sth like in AoE series when you could put soldiers in a building, so they could defend there. Or like in Close Combat series, they entered buildings also. You can always use the wals for protection, etc.I think this is a bit dissappointing that there will be no such possibility. If they at least treated buildings as structures that player could put crew into...;)

MTW2 looks promising..

Indeed Macca. MTW2 seems to be developing quite well according to the forums. I like the attempts at improving diplomacy, and looking forward to the AI and graphical improvements.

Getting back to men in buildings, your comments reminded me of Imperial Glory (never played it though) where you could garrison into buildings for better defence and surprise attacks.

Miss playing those long sessions of Total War games. Have this and a couple console games (particular hockey) to look forward to this fall. Plus the kids go back to school. :D

AAR

and new movie ;0
This promotional movie was made by 1C to help promote the game at the upcoming Games Convention in
Leipzig Germany. While it uses in game models and textures, it does not show any actual gameplay...
But it is VERY funny and worth checking out!

That was a pretty funny movie indeed, those crazy Russians.

TBH I am still not sold on this game after reading a bit more. I will have to see how it pans out agains othe WWII RTS games hitting shelves in the fall.

Yes, Doc, but the titles you've brought up are completely differen, PS is more grand strategy with elements of arcade simulation, the second one, Company of Heroes, also looks very interesting, but ToW is sth I've een waiting for about 5 years and I think it will be a real smash for Combat Mission and Close Combat fans.

And don't forget about Call of Duty 3. ;)

While there are several games I am looking forward to this fall, checking out the expected release dates has me realizing for the next couple of months there's nothing outside of IL-2.

However, thinking about picking up the Total War Eras DVD bundle that includes all their games to date, including an online only commercial download for R:TW, plus some fan material and a video of the upcoming MTW2. Never played anything before R:TW, and while the graphics are not as good I have been told they offer good strategy play. Any insight Macca? Have you played the previous titles?

Been thinking about picking up Civilization 4 to hold me over, but I don't think this is my type of game, though it received a lot of praise and has an expansion (or two?) out for it.

In September I will likely pickup yet another hockey game for the console. Looking at both EA and 2K this year. Finally EA might be making a more sim game. Graphically it looks pretty sweet.

Seen some sort of RTS/strategy game in development for the PC concerning the Battle of Midway. Looked interesting. We should see, hopefully, some great stuff in the next year with Vista being released, and hardware finally able to move forward.

(Macca washes his hands after commiting brutal murder on TacticalS...)

Yes, I played both Shogun, without the Mongol Invasion addon, annd Medieval Total War with Vikings Invasion. Esp MTW is a blast, really great, has this special feeeling of medieval times. And the sounds and music are really great.

I'm a bit pissed off, because nobody is releasing a polish vesion of Alexander for Rome TW. I got the RTW and BIoriginals released in my country, but the publisher deoesn't seem to do anything to release Alexander :/

the Total War series is one of the greateststrategy games ever, I say.

I can already preorder MTW2 :)

But I think that if I were to choose between ToW and MTW2 I'd go tfor ToW ;)

I just looove tanks;)

Civilization IV is brilliant. There is only one expansion for the game, it is called Warlords and should be released in poland in about two weeks (i know, it sounds terrible - 2 weeks:). I heard it is really great expansion, we'll see. Civ IV is like moving sands....it sucks you in.

P.S. Does anyone here read books?
