Jim'll fix it.

Post by Nightcat » Tue Apr 18, 2006 10:52 pm

I was turfing though some old documents and found a copy of a letter I sent to Jim!

I know "Jim'll fix it" probably doesn't mean much outside the UK but I figured as kids most of us thought about or actually wrote letters asking for Jim to fix something.

How it worked was, you wrote a letter to Jim (who was kinda like a 1980's version of Santa) and he would 'fix it for you' and you would be on tv and get a badge and everything - was pure genius.

Example...

Dear Jim,

Could you fix it for me to be a Red Arrow for a day!

And Jim would fix it, set you up with a uniform and put you on some jet as a kiddy co-pilot on some Red Arrow, complete with film crew of course. Show the world and you would sit on the sofa on tv days later with a live studio audience and get your 'Jim'll fix it' badge too. He would put it around your neck and you would die very happy years later.

Not sure if these were kids, but they were with the Red Arrows!

Of course, Jim never answered my letters.

Never got my Jim'll Fix It badge..

Nor did I ever get a Blue Peter badge.

Sadly none of my pictures were ever on Art Beat with Tony Hart too. (But thats ok, was a Morph fan anyway)

You can buy Blue Peter badges on e-bay. Badge holders apparently get free access to a number of themes/sites/parks.

Did anyone ever choose the second route....

Surely you'd be pretty gutted if Jim actually answered and someone else got the day out , the badge etc...

no disrespect to ole Jim... but i'd be shy of him. look at how EVERY man in that photo is sitting EXCEPT ole Jim!

yeah, real men sit with their legs spread out...

now look at how ole Jim is sitting.

now look at how all the girls in the photo are sitting.

case closed.
