Conan hates my homeland A-J

Post by Sapper-FIN » Sun Sep 04, 2005 9:27 pm

Man, that conan must have lot of enemies

Allright, i deleted the list, i case someone finds it offensive :?

I still cant figure out what Conan meant this thing about finland :?:

You've had over 5,000 years of culture, and the world's most famous Finn is still Huckleberry.

Well, i dont find it offensive, just a little bit provocative... i mean, i´m not gonna lose my sleep, over what he said about finland ;)

you have postcards with tires?
Hmmm, apparently we have

we have 3 types of postcards;

1) One with a tyre in it.
2) one with a snowy scenery
3) Well, that was it... But i´m sure that pretty soon we´ll come up with an idea to make a postcard with a nokia mobilephone in it ;)

You've had over 5,000 years of culture, and the world's most famous Finn is still Huckleberry.
Huckleberry Finn, the famous Mark Twain character. I think most of that list was a jab at the ignorance of the American people, rather than something offensive to the rest of the world. As, if it's the Conan I'm thinking of, he seems to jab at the ignorance of the American populace more often than not.
You've got red on you.

well, i belive i saw Polish postcard with tire, but by Boomerang cards - part of some marketing :)

well, the stupidity of this text is offensive, statments without even slightest research within the topic,
it is not against You or posting it anywhere, hope it was not deleted because of me, posting is just registering it here for "future generations" and should be done...

I am just against "producing" such things

calling all Finns stupid... I haven't met stupid Finn yet :)
I belive there are some though like everywhere, but still

such a jolly country like Czech Republic is described as depressive...

making fun of developing countries and their problems like disasters... is it funny to make fun of New Orleans now?

what is sad that this way some new stereotypes are introduced,

maybe this is the only way to teach "americans" they are not alone in this world... ;)

Who's Conan?

Most Americans don't know much about Finland, except that its up north and cold, and they held off the entire freaking soviet army sixty years ago.

They made really good weather equipment and cell phones. I didn't know Huckleberry Finn was from Finland; i thought he was from Missouri.

Oh...Conan O'Brian......?

I concur with Shaphoo's comments. Apparently Conehead wasn't trying to make jest of Finland, but of most Americans' lack of knowledge of Finland.

Conan O'Brien's big claim to fame...

Post by :FI:Heloego » Tue Sep 06, 2005 4:35 am

before his show was as a writer for SNL.

And that was during SNL's worst years!

I honestly have tried to complete watching an episode of his show, and have never made it through.
Maybe it's because I'm an older fart, but I never have found him funny.
