The joys of joyriding joysticks
The joys of joyriding joysticks
Can anyone please help me with some good joystick settings? One that give me a break in steering (a bit forgiving so to speak).
Right now the pitch/roll are in ten increments, but the yaw is on 0, that can't be right?
I calibrated my X45 (is it a true hotas or not?), but when I start a mission my plane pulls to the right, screen stutters, and I don't even ahve the engine on? What's going on here? Anyone know?
I started a mission in the air (quick mission builder) and there it pulled to the left? so I had to constantly counter steer to land (actually I got shot down, since it was an enemy airfield oops - made a nice belly landing tho).
What am I missing here?

might be that your not used to the torque they added recently, the force of the prop rotating causes the plane to veer, have you tried turning off the engine/ putting it to maximum power to see what happens? When the engine is off the wieght placed in the wing to counteract that force will cause the plane to roll.
*edit* not sure on the stutters go into your confi.ini file and check your effects: is not on 2 but on 1 that was mine and RULES's problem, bit to eager

I don't think I understand what you are trying to say.
Let me rephrase:
With engine off, on the landing strip, at the start of my mission my plane pulls to the right (torque force is to the left iirc), it will spin for about 45/60 degrees and stop. This all happened without me touching the controls, I was about to turn on the engine when it started to do this weird thing.
So now the plane just start to roll because of weight in the wings, and what do i need to do to stop this then?
I have to admit that my last patch was the pacific one, 3.03, and I had none of these problems - but of course had a different pc and setup.
And is the yaw suppose to be 0?? I can't imagine applying careful rudder with that

It depends what plane your in
To stop the roll, trim the plane, go into your controls and see if you have buttons for it, if not assign them, I use vertical trim on the left index finger twiddler
dunno about the 0'ness you use the rudder to correct on takeoff and normal tourque FX in flight, I think most planes veer to the left though, I'm sure Tully has the right stuff over at IL2 forums in his sig...

The longer I'm messing with this crap the more frustrated I get. Gah, can't they build planes that you can actually fly without a truckload of counter measures just to get the damn thing under control?
ugh.
Thanks for the help Spitsfire, but I'm not too sure if I can do this stuff. Seems with every installment the difficulty level grows with it, and I feel I can't keep up anymore.
I'm flying with the BF109 currently. And I am running the mission Salah suggested me, Hungary - Potrovoksomething.
Oh I actually have downloaded the Il2 sticks to smooth out controls, which works great during flight. Take off the 11th gauge (according to the link you gave) is all over the place when I start my mission. It behaves like a metronome rapidly.
I'll try a different mission, perhaps Hungary is simply too hard for me.

Guess it's the campagne, I tried other planes and they don't give me so much fuss as that one in the hongarian campagne.
I'm just missing brakes but that's easy to fix.
I'll try the Hongarian campagne again when BoB comes out in 2008 or so. Sorry for the negative tone, just one of those days. Again Spitfire, thanks for the help. At least my conf.ini is in ok order now
Use the br...
Ah nevermind.

Well see, I hear him ref up right .. so like I figured he's out of here and well I just went full throttle, noticed he was still there as my prop chewed off his tail and I went into a nice acrobatic spin 'n turn and then ended up on my side. Was like wow, and totaly and awesome. You know?
New problem tho. FB isn't accepting keypresses produced by my x45. boo!
I tested it in notepad and the B's M's I's and whatnot appear so it *should* work. Strangely enough the B for break doesn't work either. Any ideas, anyone?
I'll ask in the ubi forums too.

Yes profiler running with the fb profile active. Strangely enough all other keys work, except the brake. I can zoom in and out, change flaps, map, engine and so on. It seems to be restricted to the brakes only, and the brake is kinda essential for taking off and landing. See previous image.

No idea what I did, but it's fixed now and it works. it works like a gem, in fact it works so well I went over the top.
But we're improving!
I have a long learning curve ahead of me tho, and I won't be online much until I know how to quickly take off and land a plane. Once in the air, it's easy - just play dead and soon I will be. I practice landings for those rare moments I get back alive.

Yeah,the title confused me....
unpure thoughts....
I was thinking about the torque they implemented in thelastest patch ,of course.
Now im flying even more crappy....
But got used the torque.
Just use rudder while taking of,gently, but with strong muscles...
whatever.
Best luck, Kitty, hope you'll be back in the air soon.
