Cannot access Hyper Lobby
At the moment I have a probelm with the HL client.
OK I thought, I will just reinstall it. No joy, I get this error message -
The product "Hyper Lobby Pro client version 3.8.95" cannot be uninstalled. It is missing or it is belonging to another user. Search for the "HKCU\User uninstall\Hyper Lobby Pro Client Version 3.8.95" registry key into each users profile for getting its owners.
Judging by the slightly dodgy English I am gussing this is an error generated from the HL client itself, but delving into the registry is a bit daunting for my limited IT knowledge. I have a back up of the registry as a zip file from about 6 months ago but am not sure if trying to fall back to that, either whole or in part, is a good idea.
Frankly folks I am out of my depth and not sure what to do next. I guess I can fly at UBI or by direct IP connection but HL is a lot easier and I really want to get this fixed. if anyone can help you will have my eternal gratitude, and the hand in marriage of my first born daughter!

Try This...
These are for W98SE, but XP is similar enough.
1.Go to your Explorer and use the "Find" function to locate all files/folders with "Hyperlobby". (Windows is dumb in that it makes no distinction between upper and lower case.)
2. Once all files/folders are located, review them to make sure there are no stray files included. In the list, highlight the first, then Shift+Click the lastfile. All files/folders in the window will be highlighted. Right-Click, select Delete, and all files will be deleted.
3. Got to your Start>Programs>... and verify the Menu Group is also gone.
4. Registry: Start>Run>type "regedit">OK
Use the find function to do the same.
CAUTION! READ THE FOUND ENTRY BEFORE DELETING! IF IT DOESN"T SAY "HYPERLOBBY" DO NOT DELETE IT!
Delete all entries for Hyperlobby.
Once the process is finished, scroll to the top, highlight the root file, and repeat.
5. Re-start your PC.
6. Do a clean re-install of HL.
Hope this helps. The registry isn't that bad as long as you're careful what you delete.

Gurb - this stems from running the new version of HL. I downloaded that on Thursday but then could not connect to HL all night. At first I though HL might just have been busy ( is there a limit of 1000 connections?) but when I got the same message Friday morning I knew there was a problem with the installation. I got the error message when I tried to uninstall. I have four users running on XP, one for each family member - wife hates all the desktop icons I have that she says clutters up the screen! It reads like you are running the un-install first. Do you use a number of profiles/usernames on the PC?

I presume you are uninstalling from the same account from which it was installed?
If you overwrite the existing install without un-installing it first and then try and join HL what happens then e.g. (effecively repeat last Thursday)
This uninstall issue is seperate from the issue of Thursday. Can you be morespecific as to what the problem was then, i.e. error message.
There is no 1000 player limit now.

It seems strange.
The install seems OK, I get a desktop icon fine and get the log on page.
When I enter my password I get the message "Connecting" and then "Hyperlobby server is temporarily unavailable, please wait few minutes then try reconnect again".
You may be right - maybe the uninstall error messages are a seperate issue.
I am using the same account for install and uninstall.

It's beginning to look like perhaps HL just cannot see the server
Check you firewall rules.... delete any existing rules for Hyperlobby, then restart Hyplerlobby, does it give a prompt to aloow access? When you put in a new exe, it normally has to have a new rule applied to it. Many firewalls do it automatically, some don't. Which firewall are you using?
As a quick test, you could try very briefy disabling the firewall, try and connect and then re enable it agian. At least it will identify it as a firewall issue or not.

Nellip I have had the same problem and use norton.
Every time a new version of Hl is installed you need to setup new firewall rules for it. In my firewall I presently have two HL's set at permit all. I cant remember too clearly but I'm sure at one stage I had about 4. You should only need one ie the latest one. It could be that your new version has not been configured to allow access to the internet but you see the old version (although its no longer installed) as having the correct permissions.
Ensure they all have the correct permisisons or if you're really techy delete all the old ones and permit the latest one.

Sorted.
Thanks for all the help and support guys.
It did appear to be something to do with the Track IR advert, it that when I disabled the ad blocker in Norton Firewall it works fine. I have now got rid of the old permissions in Norton and it works great.
That and TS working as well - no excuses now
