"Off Topic" means anything.

this greatly depends on what aircraft you are flying
two exapamples
If your in a J8a then turn! turn like the seasons!
if you are in a p-47, dive!
It also depends on what aircraft you have behind you.
If your faster. run.
if you can turn better. do circles
But most of the time, when you have a bandit behind you, your already as good as dead.
the trick is, NOT to get him behind you.
Situationall awareness plays a great role here.
if you dont know where the bandit is.
you are dead.
if you KNOW where he is, you have a chanse.
a even greater one if he hasnt spotted you first.
keep looking around, and always know where everybody is.
avoid headons like the plauge.
they hurt.
learn to fly whit one hand and use the other hand to look around with the mouse, if you dont have track-ir.
as said, you have to know the weaknes of your aircraft, and avoid them
at the same time you have to know the weacness of the enemy aircraft, and try to bring the fight towards those areas.
take early spit vs fw-190
the spitfire can turn cirles around the fw, at LOW SPEEDS.
if the fw driver manages to lure his enemy into a high speed fight, he will win 99% of the time.
same thing if the spit can get the fw-190 slow and turning. the spitfire will win 99% of the time.
if you have any tricks to share, then come with them.

Technically the forum times are correct as they're given in GMT (and not BST as we're currently experiencing here in the British Isles), but if it's really sticking in your craw then you can edit you forum profile to display the correct time in your time zone, or change the date/time format, in fact you can do loads of jaw-droppingly incredible stuff there, check it out!Anonymous wrote:Also just another quick question...do you know that your time is wrong on the forum index...it is an hour behind.......sorry to nit pick

As regards shaking a bandit, here are the two most important tips:
1.) Don't get tailed in the first place - you should never fly straight and level for more than three seconds in the combat zone, and ALWAYS check your and your mates' sixes. But when you do get tailed...
2.) Take evasive action, ANY evasive action, immediately but remain calm. Don't snap-stall the aeroplane (if you ever stall then you've done something very wrong), kick in some rudder so you disrupt his gunsight aim, try to gain or at least maintain altitude when possible (exception is if you're in a fatty such as the P-47 which can outdive a submarine!), and hope to god that your wingman likes you enough to take the guy down BEFORE he gets you

Scissors!!
It has saved my arse, dozens of times
You also might be able to get a shot at the bad guy, when he goes past you...
Let´s see if this animation works...

The trick is to turn from side to another, and fly slower than the enemy...

I managed to "out-cissor(?)" a fw-190 in a p-47 once.
it has saved my virtuall butt many times

A 190 once tried to use a scissors on my P-47.
The poor blighter couldn't get close enough, let alone open his cockpit and lash out at me with the hand-held device.
I responded in kind with eight "fifty cals", more than a match for his one scissors...
Ol' mother FI-FI ahoy-hoy!!!
