Skinning question
Well more of a Photoshop question. I have PS7, and I have one template that won't make skins with bright. It used to, without problem, when I used the bright plugin in the past. But now, not so much. It's one of the older templates that I have, so there are lots of "additions and improvements" to the template. None of my other PSD files have this problem. I have a work-around for the issue, but it's so much easier to use the Bright plugin.
My question is this: If PSD files get too large will it affect Brights ability to work with them?

Not sure how much help I'll be,but I'll give it a shot. I do my ps work on a mac, so that confounds things a little. I have worked on files over 1GB and brightened fine, it took a while, but it did it.
Double check the image mode and make sure your in rgb and not indexed. That's one that I have forgotten to do several times. That's the first thing that comes to mind. But, you said it was a PSD, so it should be in either rgb or cmyk. I'll keep thinkin' bout it, and if I come up with something else I'll let ya know.
You could send me the file and I'll play with it and see what it does on my mac.

Could I be in indexed just on that one file? If so, where would I go to look to change it? I thought it would have been something that I fouled up (as it used to work) but I haven't been able to get this one to work in some time... Thanks for the help! I will look into that just as soon as I figure out where to look.

On my mac in PS 7
On the top menu bar go to "image"
Then select "mode"
There should be several file types to choose from. You want to select "rgb".
This should allow you to use all of your PS tools. Just remember, to switch back to indexed (same way as selecting "rgb" just select indexed) after you have manipulated your skin so it will work with the game.
Hopefully this is the only issue, but if it's not, just send it my way and I'd be happy to see if I have the same problems you do.

try this ...
one, two, th ... three ...
otherwise,
is there a function or tab that is labeled
"colors?"
"color depth?"
"count colors?"
"increase/decrease color depth?"

The file will default to 256 when you save it as "indexed". You get some options, but the 256 is usually already selected. Same's true with the 8
bit. Top menu bar to "image" then select "mode" and you will see in the menu the 8 bit and 16 bit. The 8 bit is usually selected already too.
I'm not sure why you would have problems with this particular file. I seriously doubt that the file would be too big for any PS tools to not work.
To alter the brightness in my documents I use levels.
Top menu to "image" > adjustments > levels.
Sorry I can't be of more help. On a tangent, I would have really guessed that Falcon did his stuff in PS. Those skins are awesome.

Thanks for the help guys, maybe this is a sign that I need to make my own p-40 template, rather than use whoever's template that I'm using now. I'll try that, and if I'm still having trouble, I'll try Falcon's method....
One... two... Th... three...
Thanks again all.
