New Coop CBI mission! "Thanksgiving!"

Post by Beowolff » Fri Feb 11, 2005 2:03 pm

greetings, Irish!

fly along with the famous "Tex" Hill in his new P-51B Mustangs in a surprise strike against the Japanese airfield on Formosa. Along with the P-38s, escort the B-25s to the target and strafe one side of the airstrip while they bomb the other, help the Lightnings sweep any enemy from the sky.

and yes, this is a CBI mission without a CBI map... though historical in intent (it really happened of course) i had to make do with using the Japan map (for the CBI theater landmass) and using B-model Mustangs (instead of As) and J model Lightings (instead of G models) but hey... its STILL a fun coop mission!

I once saw a television program about war photographers. One cameraman was making his way up a quiet trail somewhere in the CBI (Burma I think) accompanied by a platoon when some friendly Dakotas flew over dropping supplies. It was Thanksgiving Day and foremost among these earthbound packages were several large turkeys. The poor cameraman was hit by a parachuting Mk1 Gobbler, sustaining injuries that were serious enough to see him shipped back Stateside for the duration of the war! He surely gave thanks and said he was glad that turkeys couldn't fly.
"Can that thing fire?"
