Hello, I only have about 2 minutes to write this. As the subject heading says, my system is finished, kaput. I'm lucky if I can get on the net for 5 minutes. Complete system melt down, video card is just about gone, as well as the MB she is on her last legs. So I won't be up and flying with you all for sometime, as it's Christmas and there is no way the misses will let me spend more money on this crate. I'm going to drag it over to my IBM techie friend see if he can get some more life out of it.

				When we hear the shriek
of Mr. Magill's modem melting...

we will know that he is gone...

and with him, Canada.
Holy ...

I'm on my friends comp. My system is offically a door stop. Power surge fried everything (note to self. never buy mid to low priced PSU). So needless to say I'll be offline for a few months till I scrape up some $$ for a new computer.
Till then happy flying.

Hope you can get it done before too long- man, that's a tough break.
OTOH there will probably be some real bargains going after the holidays, so maybe you can upgrade?

I have 2 x 1 GB RAM DDR2 and an old videocard (Nvidia 8400) to give away, if that can help you?
Anyway, there's more important than computer stuff and I wish you the best for 2009 especially when the old year passed away so ugly.

Well there is a loll in the battle here at work so I thought I'd drop in. The wifey has granted me permission to use some of my income tax refund to put towards a new computer. She apperantly does not like to go to the bank to do banking, as she normally dose that sort of domicile stuff online.
So I hopefully will be back up and running sooner than later, and the bonuse is the guy who will be putting the new rig together for me, plays IL2, therefore he knows excactly what I need.

				Grrrrrreat news Pat!
Ummm ... does your friend give free advice to total strangers?
I'm building a new box and could use all the help I can get.
Good job workin' on your wiff. I know it must have taken some skill. Puppy dog eyes, heavy sighing while staring sadly at the smoldering case, picking at your food, an errant tear running down your cheek from time to time, screaming, "why me lord, why me!" at the top of your lungs all work for me.
Hang in there!

Got a opportunity to pick up a Saitek X-52 Pro. I believe some of you guys use this joystick, do you recommend it?
Mind you I am a south paw, but am partially ambedextrious do to living in a right hand dominated world all my life. I believe I can master flying with my right hand.
So what are your thoughts?

I don´t use the X-52, but I´m a south paw aswell. I have no problem with using my right hand on the stick(I´t feel´s like it´s someone else doing the stick-wiggling

 )
I find the X-42 a good stich/hotas so the 52 should be a good thing if the price is right...

When you're using FSX, then the X52 Pro is right, if not then not.
Simply because the Display is only capable for FSX on the Pro.
Then the price matters for sure. The Non-Pro is cheaper.
I am running my X52 for 2.5 years now.

Thanks, I'm not worried about the display not working allthought there is someone on the Saitek forum that wrote a script file that enables the FMD to work with IL2 1946 and the X52 Pro. I will pick it up the price is to good to let go.
Thanks again.

I maybe back up Friday. I haven't purchased a new Desktop, but I'm going back to school (never to old to learn something) and a laptop (Vista 64

)is something needed, so I spent some of my new computer money on a laptop, which happens to play IL2. So I plugged in the monitor and the new X-52pro and have been trying to train my right hand to do what my left hand normally does (In some sick way that doesn't sound right).
