Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Post by AltarBoy » Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:24 pm

I got this game yesterday and it totally rocks and blows the previous COD titles out of the water! The graphics and special effects are really impressive and my new rig ran it great on all settings on their highest. The ragdoll physics are believable as well as the weapons.

The first mission took a hold of me and never let go. You play as an SAS member boarding a cargo ship in rough weather and the action (particularly when the ship got hit by MiGs and sinking) was great. If you want a real firefight the USMC mission to take over a TV station is the one.

I really recommend this game to CoD diehards. It's a bit different than the WW2 scenarios in terms of graphics, weapons and tactics.

I´d love to get it but as usual I am broke. Apart of that I don´t have that much time I´ve once used to have. But X-mas comes for sure ... and what else is the proper and apposite gift to our holy feast like a PC war game?

Me loves absolute commerical exploitation of Christian holidays! :?

Peace! ^:)

I got a copy of this a few days before the game's release date (perk of the new job)... got stuck into the SP campaign and then picked up Crysis and, well, haven't played CoD4 since. I'll see if I can get a few copies of CoD4 cheap in the shop and ship them over to our continental mates but to be honest it looks like we'd only get a small few fun MP sessions out of it and little else.

Now Crysis on the other hand... ;)

Crysis will cripple your PC but it is simply awesome. Come back to me in a couple of years when you have next-gen hardware and we'll talk.

Speaking of next-gen hardware, Gen, are you still using that 9800??

Playing this now, finished the offline part and am now a Master Sergeant online.

Steam is not required if you buy the DVD version and not the download.

I heard that PunkBuster is giving some problems with CoD4 online play. I had installed it for future online play.

Good for you guys! I'm having the firefight of my life with the USMC missions. Non-stop action but I had to lower my resolution a bit for the 'War Pig' mission. Just too many things to render. It's great to man the guns on the AC-130 Spectre gunship. Man, Death From Above! :D I also got to fire two of my favorite weapons- the Ak-47 and the FAN-FAL rifle, I even handled the Stinger missile launchers and RPGs.

There is no FN-FAL in the game as far as I know, there is a H&K G-3 though.

You sure? Maybe you're right. I'll check it out. Sometimes there's no time to read the weapon name when you're diving for cover. The sniper rifles are pretty cool. I'm on the SAS mission in full camouflage in Chenobyl. Can you feel all that radiation?
