				Hornets over Hanover!

				YEARS ago, when I was young, I did a 210.

This is another
first attempt at skinning. I've just started updating it today after trying out the new sound mod. Ignore the skin. It's a test of the new digital camo in use on uniforms. The template, as you would expect, is a mess. I'll work on that when I'm not RO'g, Elf'g and helping my dear wife pick out drap ... erm ... telling the womenfolk when to fix my supper.
Thanks Gadje and all for stearing me toward this novel mod.

				Great, another Hornet fan!
I haven't flown it yet, but I always thought it looked so cool.

Changed the camo pattern, started correcting beaucoup screwy lines, etc.
So yeah, it's gonna have a LW splinter pattern with RAF
gray-green (Iregreen) and RAF
dark earth paint.
Go figure.

				Looks great, would love one with a 42 when you have finished it maestro.
Must try and fly the 210 one night - wonder if I could write a few missions including the planes that are now flyable in the sound mod?

				Looks good but a little critique please. Since skinning back in the days of Il2 I was advised by the pros there to tone down the rivets and panel lines. They apparently don't show themselves up so prominently. But I guess that's up to personal choice.

				Yeah, I know, I know!
Just getting the colors and patterns now. Rivets will be later. Standard voids are full of giant rivets and early (and in some cases later) in my skinnin' career I was guilty of that too. Today I will work more on the irregular mapped shades on adjacent/split panels and some line work, hatch weights and new details ...
but don't let all that slow anyone down on the critiques. All input is appreciated!
thx uberly

				Know what you mean there. I kinda hit the wall with the B17 template 'cos it's such a big plane for a 1024 sq px skin a 1 pixel rivet is huge.
So do you have a no 23 in that colour? please.

				Rivet visibility would...

				...of course depend on the type of rivet used in a particular aircraft construction.
Flush (countersunk) rivets would barely show...if at all.
Round-head (button) rivets would stand out like a sore thumb.
'Nuff said.

				Lookin' very nice there, Stu. I'd love 1 each no. 41 when she's all ready for prime time!
Now if I can just figure out where you guys have downloaded this crazy new mod from... and eventually get it set up with the version switcher. Saw that thread someplace at one point but couldn't find it when I went lookin the other day. Sounds worthy of a sticky, or even a hosted download thru the FI site, maybe.

				There is a sticky at the top of the squadron forum for the sound mod, with a link to where you can find it.
Flying some of the previously unflyable planes - even if the cockpit is not authentic - was great fun in Sundays session last week.

and hatches
and wear

				Slow but steady ...

lots of detail around the cockpit to do,
some wear adjustment,
many more details,
dirty up the underside,
adjust or totally give up putting Eire flag on prop,
aileron details to do,
more hatch rivets, etc (still at 100% opacity),
etc, etc, etc ...
~~~
This is the 210Ca-1.  The
Zerstorer will need some small changes in the nose prolly.
