Just installed this alternative to the Windows desktop shell. Takes a bit of setting up , but I've clears loads of cluttered icons and it uses less resources than the Windows desktop.

I've downloaded it, but since I read that it is quite tricky to install and tweak, I am afraid to install it:=

Have not noticed any of the stutters the Windows desktop gave me when opening browsers/apps etc while streaming audio .

BTW have you checked out the themes downloads?

Ah, I have managed to download and install it. I found the full version (more than 300mb) with all possible themes and plugins availabe, and a serial hehehe... Anyway I need some help now. My theme looks great, but the changes have only applied to desktop. My folders and everything else still looks like XP, not even close to your screenshots.. Any tips?

Well your folders will still open in windows explorer, it's mainly a better way to organize your desktop. I've got the tabs along the top organised with drop down menus for Graphics,Audio, Video, IL2 and frequently used folders.

You can also set shortcuts in the side bars. I think they're all "widget" driven, so they don't show up on a screen grab.

Aston puts the shortcuts from your Windows desktop on screen when you install it, but you can remove these without affecting your windows "Desktop" folder, once you've found places for them in the side bars or tabs. In fact the easiest way to add them to these places is to work from your Windows Desktop folder - R. click properties , then copy and paste "Target" into the Aston " Add Element" dialog.

OK, I've gotten into this pretty well, however there's one thing I cannot do, and it annoys me a lot. I want to put a shortcut to my internet connection in the taskbar, but I cannot find it when I try the usual way. Do you know can I do that?
