Horrors of War

Ok, guys this is one of those rare moments when the old AB is serious.
Last night I watched a documentary on cable about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki aftermath called 'White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki' on HBO. For the first time I saw what happened to the citizenry and the horrific deaths and injuries caused by the A-Bomb. After the bomb dropped winds exceeded 1000 mph, temperatures rose above 9000 degrees F. Victims at ground zero were vaporized. Others were turned into ashes and other injuries too horrific to describe here. In one part of the documentary one of the Enola Gay's crew met with a Japanese victim as part of the US program to heal the burn victims. The pilot couldn't even raise his head and he looked as if he'd break down at any moment. It made me wonder where we're going seeing that the world has enough nuclear weapons equivalent to 400,000 times Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I'm not debating anything here. Just this show sobered me up a bit. Some of the quotes of the victims:
"There are two kinds of courage- the courage to live and the courage to die. My sister had the courage to die. I had the courage to live."
"The US Occupation Forces gave us a Constitution that said no navy, no army, no air force. We must protect that constitution at all costs."
"This must end with us."
