Well, I´m quite glad that all these controls haven´t been implemented into our IL-2 simulation. It´d have taken a lifetime to learn them all!!!

Ty for sharinf the link, Willie! :D

Yes!

I like the one on the P 47. The emergency ground spin to stop left out the cleaning of the pilot's pants. Nothing like seeing a big fighter do donuts admist the screaming of burning rubber.

The more I look into it, the more I'm amazed at the level of technology that goes into these so-called "Primitive" fighters compared to now. What got me was the CO2 system in the wing tanks, wow.
That beast is still a potent weapon of war.

One of the things that REALLY impressed me was the fuel burn at high power.

250 GPH if I remember right. WOW!!! That is pokin some avgas down those holes with a fire hose!!

Even at max economy, 40 GPH is a LOT. Figure 3 bucks a gallon nowadays, $120 USD an hour just to loaf. I'd find it very hard just to let that beast clank along. I'd HAVE to twist the wick and turn up the juice just to see what shook loose!!

Amazing!

Now we see how computer flight sims are simplified.

Remember to empty the right wing fuel tank first.

Open intercooler

6 degrees trim

6 degrees that

take off check

bla blah

I wanna have this someday in a flight sime....

I thought it was the left wing tank first (because of the stall)

Actually I remember reading about the whole trim thing on the Ubi zoo, for the takeoff proceedures for the Brewster no less!
