About TS codecs
Yep, this thing is bothering me more and more. I already wrote about my pppssshhhsshs sound psshshshs problems psshshs. Well, I tried swapping between codecs, and wondered why sounds are still completely same. Then i noticed that I cant really change the codec! Yes, I can select different ones from the drop-down menü, but still the codec-in-use remains same, and it seems that I can do nothing about it. Any advices? Listening to you is really a pain with the default codec

I use the ...
...Celp 5.1 kbit codec.
Once you've selected the codec and clicked "close" (not the "x") it should become your default.
If this doesn't change your codec, you may need to re-install.
Another possibility is your sound card settings, so verify everything before you do a new install.

Codec in use on any given channel is set server side so no, you can't change it.
You can only change it locally in "local" test mode (unless you yourself have created channels)
We originally settled on Speex12.3 codec as that seemed to offer the best balance between sound quality and data upload.
Could be that the rate could be upped now what with people having on general higher quality upload capacity.

Check the "latency" settings in options.Set for quality
I get best sound using Direct sound and not Wave sound
Input set to" direct sound input device"
Output set to "SB live "
also in Windows volume control mixer:-
in "Recording " tick the microphone check box (a boost can be set in advanced if levels are low)
in "Playback " tick Mute in the microphone box.
Also see that your speakers are configured for Stereo (not 5.1 sound)
-sorry for the confusion ,in Test mode you can check the codec works properly.
some on-board AC95 sound cards may not perform as well (I tried re-activating mine for TS and it was worse than useless)
