Alpine skiing-Kildow chooses cow over money after downhill win

VAL D'ISERE, France (Reuters) - Lindsey Kildow could have pocketed an extra 1,000 euros (678 pounds) from her World Cup downhill victory in Val d'Isere on Saturday but the 21-year-old American decided against it.

Kildow, who won her second downhill of the season in the French resort, was handed 23,000 euros and a cow for her victory.

"Someone wanted to buy (the cow) from me for 1,000 euros," she said. "But I'm keeping her anyway."

Kildow said she had no exact idea of what she do with the gift.

"However, I'm not having a barbecue. I'm not eating my cow," she said. "I thought of sending it to Maria Riesch who knows someone who has a farm but a guy from the FIS said he could take care of the animal."

German all rounder Riesch's hopes of racing at the Turin Olympics were dashed last week when she tore ligaments in her left knee in a World Cup slalom in Aspen, Colorado.

This could be intersting. Does this mean we now have a squad cow?

Do we have to take turns?

Does seniority mean NOTHING around here????

Well Fen, looks like it.. But look on the bright side! A squad cow will be good fun! If we need some cream for our emh.. irish coffee, we, well, just say hello to the squad cow! And.. Falcon could uh.. do a paintjob on her, give her some irish coulors! Yeah!

But before we start celebrating our new member,
lets hope for our own sanity, (if there`s any left), that the cow is`nt a elephant seal cow!

"take care of the animal"

I wonder if she knows what her FI contact meant by "take care of"......

she better check some FIS references before she gives that critter to FI.
