Hey Guys!

Must say sorry for not being around in a while. Didn't realise shift work would be like this! Anyway have settled into the job nicely now and have a years proper service under my belt. So far i like it but its fairly stressful.

So anyway, must get myself pacific fighters and patch myself up and buy a new graphics card + stick and then I'll be up and about wrecking all your heads (and planes!) again. Cant wait to try out the new models. Any recomendations on Graphics Cards and Sticks would be nice?

So anyway - nice to say hi again!

Ken ^:)

P.s. If this is hard to understand, i'm drugged up to my eyes with antibiotics due to my wisdom teeth acting up so i'm in great pain! Drugs rule maaaan!

Good to see you back, Ken!

If you combine Newcastle, the drugs, and aluminum foil caps on those molars you get really good reception. :D

The latest from Mars would blow the Top 40 away! :D

Welcome back!

Welcome back, Ken! :D

Maybe you´ve already realized that you´ve been gone out of the squad but no worries you are very welcomed to come back again. Just fill in the application form in the "Squadron" or "Rogues" section of the main page and you´ll be in again! :)

Unfortuantely I can´t give you any recommandations about graphic cards and stick since my hardware is not that up-to-date either. Talking of graphic cards you have to decide between AGP or PCIExpress ones (for which you definitely need a new motherboard because of the latest bus technology). Depending on your purse´s content and your graphic chip preferences you can choose between ATI or NVidia cards. IMHO finding a proper graphic card is some kind of science nowadays ... :?

Don´t ask me about joysticks, mate. I hopefully can use my MS FFB the next one hundred years ... ;)

Sorry to hear that you´ve troubles with your teeth. Man, I was sweet 17 when my dentist recommended me to pull out all four of them within two months (!) ... my face looked like I was beaten up after that ... bruises everywhere ... ... I had no infection tho ...

Nonetheless, ... it´s great to hear that you want to come back!

Sláinte, Ken!

Another squadmate (or former one) Spookyruben, is currently undergoing the same ordeal. He found out that it's almost impossible to get non DDR2 RAM now (Or will be in the future) and that AGP8X is now a dead end.
Hate to say it, but a new Mo-Bo may be in order if you are seriously out of date.

The good news IS: Some PCI-Ex boards support both DDR- and DDR2, so you don't have to buy new RAM. Most manufacturers now have reasonably priced boards that support dual cards. Get one of those. Buy a reasonable NVIDIA PCI-Ex Card that supports SLI. Then Grab another one when you can affoard it. This stuff is about half to 75% cheaper for the perfomance when I bought it. But you are still looking at spending about $400 CDN to get a pretty good upgradable machine. Assuming you swap all your old parts in. Crazy thing is, for another two hundred bucks you could go up to 64 bit AMD chip goodness.

Thats the problem I ran into when I upgraded. Everything just snowballed and I wound up just buying a whole new box. Which the smoke escaped from and shut down on me a couple of times, but thats what you get for bleeding edge at the time. Cripes my Mo-Bo went though eight bios revisions in the past year!

Welcome back Mutzy!

Good to hear that you're handling the job well!

Where did they send you in the end? (I may need some help with parking tickets ;) )

Welcome back.

bout them wisdom teeth, the only smart thing about em is getting rid of them. Mine gave me heck for years until I had a dental surgeon cut all 4 out at once. Wasn't painful at all, used a general anesthetic and afterwards I took a few Tylenol 3's and never slowed down a bit. Only I never had the inflamation and pain/discomfort again.

Now just where did I put them pliars...
