The Missus and I like to head off to a lil spot not too far away and try to catch a few poor lil fishies.

I go all out with my antique fishin stuff. (Swedish folks take note) My reels are old ABU Ambassadeurs. Made before Garcia bought them out. They are the old standard red, 5000's that that set the mark for all bait casting reels to live up to. My rod is an old Heddon "PAL Superlative" fiberglass rod made in the 50's. My NEWEST lure is about 25 years old.

The fishing hole is full of DUMB fish!! THey won't hit a topwater lure if ya pay 'em. Oh well, I enjoy aggravating them.

The missus uses a rod/reel combo purchased at the finest Wall-Mart store in town. It is a kid's model and has SCOOBY-DOO all over. It is even her favorite color!! PURPLE!! FFS!!

I catch weeds and sticks and moss monsters and an occasional turtle.

She uses only the finest canadian nightcrawler worms for bait and she catches
Image :?

She had one larger than that that broke her line aobut 10 minutes before she landed that lil darlin. No scales to weigh it but it was 21" long. I figure it was about 4 lbs. DAMN nice largemouth bass in anybody's book.

That's my girl. :D

I catch bigger every weekend!
It's alittle esier when there in a bright blue vat and you have a very big net, and high paying customer to go with it :D
Had to fish out 9 12-14" koi at 9.00am saturday morning, didn't dry out till about 2! (Bacterial infection, we lost one and I was the lucky soul who got the privilage of going upto quarintine and check all the lovely ill fish and medicate them!... yay!

Dried properly, I hear they have a texture like raisins.

Sweet, but with a subtle hint of sarcasm. :)

My sweet departed mother still claims they are quite good with a Cabernet. :D

I'll just have the Cabernet, thank you! :p

Wille, nice fish M8 :)

The British Rod caught Salmon record is still held by a Miss GW Ballentine circa 1920, I think!

A very large proportion of all the large Salmon caught in this country have fell to womens rods, a disproportionate amount ?

Same in lots of other fishing as well.

The theory goes it is a "hormonal" thing lol (they can detect the mood in the water and jump right out coz they scared :) )

No, really there is evidence that this is true, especially with male fish???

Women make better fisher,,,,, people then!!!!!

OMG,, dont anyone tell em !!!

Great links!!

My wife would LOVE to fish offshore, but it is a bit of long jaunt from where we live to the salty water.

We went to the "fishin hole" last night. I caught a lil snake...  Pat caught some perch and pretty big bass grabbed her hook and then spit it back at her as largemputh bass like to do..

Oh, and Spits, dear boy....

BEWARE the savage KOI fishies.. We don't want ot hear aobut a young lad being sacrificed or gettin half eaten by a rogue KOI fishie. ;) Thy're evil I tell ya. They glide around the tank all serene and quiet.

Actually it is an act. I read about it in one of those tabloids that was telling about H Ross Perot's alien abduction attempt. Can't remember who was trying to abduct whom though.

Ianus, as for my fishing, this is the first time in about 30 years that I've really enjoyed it. Really a LOT more fun when your wife enjoys fishing too.

 LION FISH!! FFS!! Run away runaway!! Lovely but very nasty or so I read.

I'd love to go pike fishin in Ireland too!!

Some of my fondest fishing memories are of pike fishing with my dad in Minnesota. Those long, skinny, sharp toothed thingies sure put up a HELL of a fight. We caught Northern pike, Muskallonge pike, (funny name and hard to catch) and walleye pike.

Was great sport. Water is too warm for 'em to live down here, so it's bass, hybrid stripers, catfish, drum, and maybe carp.

:D

OH, Bub caught the only "keeper" last night.

Nice lil "channel cat". :D

Love Pike fishing and have done it a few times in Ireland (Lough Rei, cant remember the name properly it was a few years back)..

Only thing I dont like about it is that sometimes unhooking can require almost surgeon like skills!!

Beatifull looking fish though

Northern Pike, thay grow the biggest out of the whole lot don't they?

I'm not sure but I think the British Pike record is around the 50pound mark.

Got a few days holiday this week and am Carp fishing a big sand pit in Surrey for 4 days :D Fished it twice already, no Carp but a nice Tench of 8.4,,, fun!!!!
