Is there a way I can set my IL2 game resolution to 1280 x 1024 in FP? I am sure I had it available earlier.

At the moment I either have to use 1600x1200 which lowers my framerate too much or go all the way down to 1024x768 which is a tad low.

I am using a geforce 6600GT graphics card with Nvidias unified driver.

did you get a new screen?

Yes, I have changed the screen as well recently. The respolution I'd like is the one I have set my screen to.

I don't think 1280x1024 has ever been an option.

Strange in some ways as that has got to be one of the more common resolutions used by people.

It could be something to do with that all the supported game resolutions boil down to a 4:3 ratio between width and height

e.g.
1600x1200
800x600
1280x960

... are all 4:3 where as 1280x1024 is not. You can have 1280x960 (well you can on my set up) Though my graphics card does not seem to like it.

You are probably right about the ratio Gurberly,

I have previously discarded the 1280x960 as it did not look right on my screen. I'll have another look at it.

I seem to recall seeing some kind of utility a while back that would let you force resolutions. Might have been a graphics driver utility thing.

Thanks for the advice.

I had the same problem when I changed monitors to a new one. The native resolution on the new one is 1280X1024.

The Conf.ini has a spot for resolution in it, hopefully someone will be nice and show what the resolution header looks like, as I am away from my rig. If you change the values to your resolution, it will work. Someone also suggested that I change the file to read-only so that it doesn't accidentally revert back if you go into the settings portion of the game (and it will).

I've tried it, it works for the resolution. Now if I could just get my Joystick working again, I'd be all set. :)

Be very careful...

...about forcing resolutions.

If your monitor does not support it, and it is a CRT you risk damaging it.

I agree Helo...

But, in my particular case, it's a problem of the game not supporting my native resolution. It also happens to be an LCD monitor. :) Perhaps I misunderstood, but I assumed that the good Major had a similar LCD type monitor to mine, and so I suggested exactly what I did to rectify the stretched look that I was getting with the game resolution choices.

But I agree, one should be quite careful when dealing with resolutions.

'thnx for all advice and warnings to exercise due caution. I have, as snaphoo thought, been trying to make the game use the same resolution as I have my monitor set to .
