My trusty old SaitekCyborg is about to get replaced.
The hat switch has stopped working properly, a couple of the buttons on the base have stopped working, and the other night the throttle handle broke off.
Now, strictly speaking it is still in working order (well, 'ish) but I feel that the time has come for a replacement (great stick btw, I have had it for about 5 years).

However, I am not sure what to get as a replacement. My only absolute requirement is a twist handle.

Any suggestions?

Depends on the budget, do you like force feedback etc.

I love my MS Sidewinder2 FF stick, but they are getting hard to find. You still see the odd one on E-bay though.

I also have a Saitek X45 but I only use the throttle part - prefer the FF on the MS stick.

Just my two pence worth.

I have a Saitek Cyborg evo, like it alot, but no FF. I have a MoMo wheel & Pedals for racin with GPL and GTR. Love it.

Saitek makes good joysticks, so does MS. Either one IMHO would be kool.

Sounds like your ole stick took a few 20mm rounds and was put through some wild maneuvers above the VNE (Velocity Not to Exceed).. I KO'd my last one with a cup of coffee........I should have known better than to drink coffee while playing a PC game......I'll only drink beer on line from now on...:D

Prost!

Thanks for your tuppenceworth lads.

The evo is within reason on price. As I have already had a good run with a Saitek that looks like the way to go.

Yours aye

...a Saitek ST290 at Walmart recently as a temp replacement for my worn out X-36.

Very similar to the Cyborg, though it only has 5 buttons, throttle and twist grip. No FF.

For Twenty Dollars NEW, you can't go wrong.

I use a Logitech Freedom 2.4 cordless...

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=5032" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has plenty of buttons, twist handle and a pretty tight range of motion. No FF. I paid around 40 dollars US for it. When your not using it you can set it down somewhere out of the way and it falls asleep until you press any button on it.

All good advice lads.

I am now however the new owner of a Saitek Evo Force. I wasnt planning to ForceFeedback it but it was on special offer.

I am in the process of getting used to it. I think I will be ok. It is not such an unmitigated disaster as my last foray into the FF world (3 yrs ago, I gave the stick away).

I do enjoy having a working hat button etc though.

Cheers
