Folks,
this thread is supposed to be the place where we can talk and discuss about the Joint COOP Session (JCS) with the chaps of the SYNDICATE squadron. Give us here your ideas, objections, visions or moans about this project but always in a mannered and gentlmen worthy way ...

I'll chip in first, I'm fine with their settings of full real, always played offline that way and occasionally join full real servers only.
Hopefully they hold a campaign style of coop.
Probably best to fly on Sunday and comment here after the session.

Hi guys
I'm really looking forward to the join coop session. (JCS)
It looks like a joint coop is the way to go. Certainly at first, just to get to know each other and break the ice, so to speak.
Just to let you know how we have been doing things in the past.
We play full real but have found that starting on the runway with engines running helps a smoother start. I've lost count of the restarts that we have had to do because the Ai have ran into someone whilst taxiing etc.
We have been flying a 10 mission campaign and updating the kill markers, each week, on the skins of those that have bombed a target or downed an enemy aircraft and loosing them if shot down. (this task might be too big with double the amount of flyers) At the end of the campaign the player will have a final skin with there own personal total as a souvenir (this task might be too big with double the amount of flyers)
Now for a possible future
Some of the ideas that we, The Syndicate, had discussed before approaching Frank, about a join coop, was maybe some kind of dynamic campaign with SYN vs FI based on several objectives each side that could be defended or destroyed over several weeks. It could be point based or aircraft numbers limited etc. This is something that would need to be discussed.
Or
Joint coop might be the way to go. We just need to play it by ear
Do you guys have any preference to aircraft that you'd like to fly in the first mission?
We have recently been flying the following;
Tempest
Spitfire
P40
P47
A-20
I'm looking forward to your input. Let's make this work and it could be an incredible amount of fun.
Thanks
SYN_ Skydance.

I'll fly most things apart from the P40, just not got the hang of it yet, agreed with the runway starts.
The dynamic campaign P v P sounds good as well.
The skinning part is optional for me, probably hard work for the Skinner (aka Frank).
A combined coop at the beginning is definitely the way to go.

Talking of full real settings I told you that this might scare off some of our boys. Personally I don't mind them.
We also moved to take off from the runway lately in order to get a chance to group up properly before reaching the target area. Airstarts turned out to be a bit messy when it came to group cohesion. And talking of restarts it's not always the AI fault causing them.

A campaign with a limted amount of missions to fly? Sounds promising. Weekly updated kill markers? If our boys wish to have them I could add and change them on the FI skins.

I'd also suggest to fly together fighting the AI. IMO the two groups need to know more each other before we should start to get more competitve.

The Tempest is one of my personal favourite aircraft. All the others are fine.
But if I could avoid to fly the P-40 you would do me a favour though ...
Also looking forward to this.

PS: what comms software does your group use?

We hop on a Discord channel. Is that what you use or are you using Teamspeak?
If you use Discord then I’ll ask one of the admins to set up a channel. If you are using Teamspeak then we could join your channel because I think that SYN still has it installed.
Regarding full real, what aids do you normally have? I could ask if Vander if he could run the server with Technochat enabled. For those that want to have the extra realism, they can always turn it off. We will all be on the same side so it doesn’t really matter. We don’t have enemy fighters skill level set too high either. We focus more on survival rather than suicide kills.
May I suggest that FI fly Tempest, with bombs, and SYN fly escort in Spits for the first mission? If you are happy with this I can get Vander to start setting up a mission.
How many slots should we make for FI?

Hello Skydance,
let me recall our current COOP server settings. The following ones are enabled:
- object markers
- navigation markers
- instrument panel
- warmed up engines
- throttle auto limit
- engine auto control
- radiator assist
- technochat
"Allow spectators" is disabled. I know these are not really full real settings. But I think we'll be able to find some settings pleasing both sides.
Speaking of your mission suggestion (SYN boys covering in Spits the FI Tempests) I do like this scenario. Right now I can't say how many FI squaddies are going to show up on Sunday though. Normally the numbers are fluctuating betwenn five and six mates.
And, yes, we still use Teamspeak as our standard comms software. This does show our age, uh?
Since the number of possible user is restricted to 15 I'd suggest that we all should use Discord. As far as I can remember it's worked fine for me ...
Any other FI mates out there having an opinion on this?
Frank

Just an update on progress
Vander has added the technochat to the server and is compiling a mission on the Rhineland map with Spitfires and Tempests
There will be 10 slots/spaces for each aircraft.
We can decide who flys what on the night, depending on numbers.
Here are the Syndicate pilots who should be able to make it on Sunday 18th
SYN_Vander
SYN_Jedders
SYN_Mugue
SYN_SemiSpud
SYN_Haash
SYN_Artun
SYN_Ricky
SYN_Tapper
SYN_Mike
SYN_Skydance
If you are on the fence about joining on Sunday. I recommend you should. There will be no pressure but I’m certain it will be great fun. Even if we all get together just to do one mission It will be great. You would also probably get time to do one your regular FI coop as well. The last thing we want to do is interrupt your regular sessions but if it works out well then we could make it a regular thing. I think you may regret it if you don’t join. Vander rights some great missions.

I think we were typing at the same time then Frank
I think that we might struggle with having the navigation markers “on” but I don’t think it will be a problem if they are “off” I’m sure we’ll have enough pilots to follow and spot targets etc. Having the markers off certainly adds to realism.
Engines will be warmed up and running on the runway, ready for take off.
I can’t see having the engine settings set to auto being a problem but It may be worth setting these to full real in future missions. It is a great place to learn the correct engine setting. Our SYN_Mugue knows all the correct engine limits and settings, he’s great.
I’ve put your current setting list to The Syndicate. I’m sure we can find some setting that will work for both parties

Well guys
It looks like things are cooking on gas.
We will start the mission at 8pm BST but will start to gather up together from around 7pm.
We normally meet up on the “Combat Box” server to warm up, before the mission. SYN_Jedders will set up a, passworded, Discord channel for us, for the coop mission. Even if you are unsure you want to fly the mission, please hop on Discord to say “Hi”.
Mission set up will be:
Rhineland map
10 X Tempest, with bombs flown by members of The Fighting Irish squadron
10 X Spitfires escort fighters flown by the Syndicate Squadron
Visual aids will be set to off
CEM (Complex Engine Management) aids will be left on - These can be individually turned off in game.
On the night - The mission briefing map will show the waypoints to the mission objectives
We are all really looking forward to this guys. We’ve got up to 10 slots available.
Please make it if you can.
I’ll post the Discord setting as soon as I get them
Sky

Sorry if it seems like a I’ve gone and set up a load of things before before you’ve had chance to have an input. I just wanted to get something started ready for tonight. We can jointly discuss any necessary changes. I’m pretty sure the set up we have will be fun for all, though.
Let’s make this good.
Thanks guys, looking forward to it.

No need to be sorry, Gary!
All important information read and understood. We just need to spread it amongst the FIs ...
Catch you tonight, m8!

Folks,
although the COOP mission ended for me six feet under - I underestimated the heavy G-load on the tempest's wings in a dive - I have to admit that I liked flying it. I tried to keep myself focused to achieve our objectives (destroying four barges and a train) and to get as close as possible to our fomation (by all FI standards, of course).
The server settings were all right for me. I should had spent more interest on the technochat though then I wouldn't had forgotten to get my flaps back in after takeoff and to close my radiator in order to keep up with the formation. If it was up to me the settings don't need to be changed for next Sunday. But that's my opinion only.
I've never had the pleasure to fly with the guys of the SYNDICATE squadron so far but they seem to be a great bunch of guys really enjoying flying together. I think we as the FI could learn the one or other thing by them ...
So, I'm going to be in for next Sunday for sure ...

I'm of the same opinion, more of this every Sunday would be good. Settings are no problem (just my navigation).
Some tweeking required re forming up, formations and as always Comms.

Hi guys
First of all, on behalf of The Syndicate, I'd like to say "thank you" for joining us last Sunday. I think that everyone that took part really enjoyed it. The balance of fun and seriousness was just about right. Although we we all pretty focused on the mission we had plenty of time for banter.
Going forward....
How do fancy flying Spitfires next week, as escorts? Syndicate can fly the A-20b for the bombers.
I think we will do these single coop missions for the next few week and then, when ready, we could do to a few missions, linked together. Maybe when the Hurricane comes along. We normally fly a 10 mission campaign.
If you have any ideas that you'd like to add or anything that you'd like to try just post it here and I'll pass it on to Vander. We are always looking for new ideas.
Just as an example.....
Last month, during a campaign, I got shot down on a sortie over enermy lines, and needed to be rescued. The following week we had a single A-20b that was sent out to pick me up. It was escorted by P47s. The A-20b had to land on a field, come to a stop (whilst I climbed on Board) and then take off again, before returning home. The job of the P47s was not only to escorts the A-20b but they also had to take out the hostile fire, by strafing the energy guns, that surrounded the field, before the A-20b could land. It was a very enjoyable mission.
Looking forward to flying again next Sunday
