Sounds good.

The problem is that I remember being very good with carrier t/o's. Landings were consistently successful too, although not without some ... excitement. I even helped teach a couple of carrier ops sessions years back.

40 kph is about 21-2 kts. That's slow escort carrier speed with a light breeze, borderline do-able in the corsair, but certainly not optimal. Sunday, I saw guys that should have had no problem ... after the first two or three practice take-off's ;) STILL not be able to get it up. Something's off here. So, I don't think raising the CV's speed to 60 kph should be considered a crutch for the special folk. 60 kph is about 32 kts. That's Fast Carrier speed with negligible wind. Let's try it, see what happens and maybe schedule a few study sessions to see if it's us or them.

Hell, I had a great time anyway.

Just trying to TO in the loaded Corsair was fun in and of itself, though I'm sure the restarts tried the patience of even the kindest of us.

No slur on you at all, Neill. Great missions any way you look at it. I'm inclined to agree with limiting the Corsairs to land strips, and "crashers" to be relegated to those strips. I ain't proud. Yet. :)

I think we should have a convention that if you plonk a carrier based plane in the drink, you fly a land based one after the restart?
agree with that.

Have to say I had just as much fun shooting down my own side (blue) after red crashed on take off as I did flying the mission :-)

Carrier take offs give you a sense of achievement (when you get off). Practice Practice Practice

maybe release a mini mission on Friday/Saturdya with just the carriers so ppl can practice taking off on their own pc

?

Nice flying last night. Big thanks to Falcon for making me feel better by dying both times :D

Wolfhound - fantastic flying as your wing last night. Just watch the first mission, your tail is clear and you knock 'em out of the sky - plus leave me a nice damaged one when you ran out of ammo! I'll be your wing anytime mate, an absolute pleasure. And sorry for getting downed so quickly in second mission, didn't even see the guy as I turned behind you to engaged the guys on the horizon.

Well, I got some more info from the UBI forums. It is close to what I've researched.

"For starters the Essex Class Carriers had a top speed of 31 Knots. The game allows 28 Knots so go into the Full Mission Builder and find the mission then change the waypoint speed from the drop down list to 56 KPH. This should help getting you off the deck with heavier loads. The prototype Essex carriers had catapults to assist with heavier loads. The Lexington Class Carriers can go up to 63 KPH if I remember correctly. The escort carriers topped out at 19 Knots and most of these prototype escort carriers had catapults, some of which were diagonal across the front of the flight deck. Hope this helps.

One thing we may consider as a squadron-wide mod download, the catapult mod.

Well, this would bring us back to the mods again. What about the SAS mod activator for a clean 4.09m installtion and the catapult mod then? Sounds pretty fair to me ... :-k

So it's an SAS mod? I haven't studied up on the activator or any of those mods. I just brought up the idea, if it will cause moddy issues, then forget it, but it does sound cool. Where is that mod?
