Got it yesterday evening.
Ummm... It's a 7 GIG install. And for the amount of multi-media installed to it, it's perfectly believable.
SLI boards have a problem, crap frame rates. Only AXIS versus Allies, so us squaddies can do a computer stomp. AKA Team deathmatch.
The cutscenes are all in game and look amazing. See if you can find anything from "Band of Brothers" in it. It is really, just, well...POLISHED. Everything is so slick and amazing, the single player mission scripts are out of this world. History lessons abound though it. The tone is that the American forces were learning as they went how to properly do things. It comes across very well.
Strangely enough there is no way to slow the gameplay down, which is a first for relic. And the replay function does not have a fast forward, which is frustrating, because that's where you are going to get the most eye candy from a first person perspective reviewing your battle. Somehow, this works, proper defences and cones of fire, can make a unit of Rangers backed up by a mortar team, hold out against amazing odds, for a long time. Get caught out in the open, or on exposed areas, better start building that new squad. Units are carred over in the single player campagin, you just purchace them again. Nothing like a crack anti-tank crew to ruin a STUGIII's day
.
I've always been a fan of Relic's work, so I'm biased. But this is one of the big events in RTS games. I can't see how someone could be dissapointed.

YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaa!! This game rocks! Looks damn good. too!
Played through basic training and had my settings with both ultra and high on 1280 x 960 resolution. My trusty X800 pro card hasn't let me down yet. Man, I could even see dust clouds kicked up by the running NPCs and Whermacht soldiers bawling for their mommies! This game is a must-have for any RTS lover out there.

I have not been addicted to something like this in a while. Sending in Bombing runs or heavy artillery just puts a smile from ear to ear on my gace.
Played about 4 hrs of MP so far and it is great! If anyone wants to play a round before or after the session tomorrow, let me know.

I tried to push the graphics on CoH and got alarm beeps from my PC due to my card overheating. In the meantime I'm getting my ass kicked in the Red Ball Run mission in CoH. When did the germans get so strong in France? I wiped out a 17Th SS Panzer gruppen and yet panzers seem to come out like ants. MEDIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got to think like an armoured commander. Rescue Dog Company then go smash the base to the east with your free tanks. Fortify Dog's position with dragon teeth along the outside walls and a couple of machine gun nests covering the flag and AT guns covering the exits. Then watch Jerry come to his doom. Gives you a free hand to cap the other points. Once you trash the base it goes downhill from there. Watch out for AT guns though, I just bull through them then kill the crew off with tank fire.

I play on normal settings and thought I'd fortify my base first. If I leave it unprotected by tanks the panzers will decimate it. But I'll try what you did and see if that works. The eastern base was something I'd forgotten about. I don't know how historically accurate this game is, but don't you find the Sherman tank a bit uber compared to the Stug?

CoH is amazing! Been playing the single campaign, really excellent, long well thought out missions with strong immersion factor! Haven't done a lot of multi, but it seems solid and lots of fun. Overall it is another excellent game from Relic.
Visually, and I'm running moderatly high settings, the game looks like a fraking FPS when you go to ground level! I never thought there could be such detail in a RTS. Actually, I am asking myself the question why FPS games are not like this? Simply mindblowing.
If anyone ever wants to get a game in, I will try to make the time.

I concur! The 3rd mission was a blow out! I was left with only a handful of infantry and a .50 quad half-track in the end but the convoy got through. The Cherbourg mission I really like a lot. I may even try MP soon, too.
