Yeah, Tactical!:FI:TacticalS! wrote:Naming the subs - patch or a mod? Going to download the patch and maybe some mods . . . .
Since the latest patch you can see the names of the submarine´s commander above the vehicle aswell as above the torpedos while playing SH3 online.
But no worries, mate! Both kind of names can be switched off ...
BTW, ... yes, I use the sky mod by Ailantd ...

Ok, I know that I have been slammin' certain Maccas around for their Easy play settings, but I'm no Rab - I am "cheating" by using the Weapons Officer and may even enable the Event Camera in my next patrol.:FI:Genosse wrote:But no worries, mate! Both kind of names can be switched off ...

Patched last night. Everything seems fine, though I thought when you open a tube the game is suppose to notify you via text AND VOICE. And I did have my first crash, and what poor timing, was just about to get (hopefully anyway) my first kill during the night.

Now after a transfer, and spending all points for crew upgrades, I'm in a better U-boat and have 1 kill already under my belt!

Anyone try VAC yet? It really makes the game even more enjoyable.
I'll probably wait until the weekend and download some mods relating to various graphic improvements and that one with the Das Boot crew pictures - me like that one.

Before I forget, there was suppose to also be a new map tool in the patch, but I didn't notice any new tool. The game says it's 1.3 and the installation went fine (and I didn't have any mods). What say you other SHIII captains?

Well....
I couldn't resist...I took a one hour break from my boooks and launched Silent hunter III. New profile, Naval Academy - navigation, artillery and flak exams excellent - at 100 percent realism settings.Like the old times - in Aces of the Deep there wasn't any event camera and so on.Maybe tomorrow I'll do a little torpedo exam and covoy attack traiining. When I have some more time will start a career with 100 precent realism settings.
I've already tried a single mission - Happy Times with full realism - wonderful.,amazing,involving.I got 100 percent hits, don't know how - didn't try to learn from Wazoo's manual, just followed Crimson's advice and used my sixth sense:)
Ok, Oswald Spengler is calling.......
Hans, you take the command, I'm going to my cabin to read a bit....Remember.... we do not sink fishing boats.....
Good...

I have read his manual also but quickly takes all the fun out of it for me too mate.
ID, range and speed are rather straight forward. Torp depth is easy too (unless rough seas). That just leaves AOB. I try to be on the surface in most of my attacks, unless they have protection of course. So most of my shots are at 90 degrees. I think for all the trouble I will try to develop some reasonable skill to know my angle - which shouldn't be that hard if I wait until at 90 degrees.
OK Macca, next kill in my patrol will be all me baby (though I can use the WO just to double-check my numbers, right?
).

well Kapt's
My missions are not very succesfull until now but i have the realism at 77% I like the external views (not for cheating) I enjoy the gameplay more that way.
i had some installation problems but i had the mods installed (smoke, card, interface, moon, particles, sky ) very good mod's.
so i removed 2 files who gave problems temporary and placed them back and i was good to go.
So far kaleun "Silent Gunther"

I installed the game and patched it up late last night but only had a few minutes to play... I'm leaving work now and hopefully I'll get a chance to play later tonight (after my girlfriend leaves
) but in the meantime:
The game seems to be running in a low resolution and I can't find any options to change it. I'd like to run it in my desktop res 1600x1200 - any ideas?
And short of trawling through this whole post (which I'll do later if I have to) do any of the mates feel kind enough to write a list of the best sites / tips / mods that I should look at?
Thanks y'all, ping you soon!

Damage Model
Folks!
Here´s a picture of the damage model on the subs since the latest patch ... a Sunderland aircraft with some depth charges hit me directly on the back of my little vehicle ... hull integrety after attack: 57% by one hit!!!

Guess what? My crew managed to stop the flooding after two minutes! Well done, Männer!
