Start a poll thread and we'll try to do whatever it says for Sunday ... if the mighty mission-makin' mates are willin'.

I reckon we should start this idea afresh with a new campaign after Nellip's is complete. Gives us time to sort stuff out, like whether to incorporate teamplay stats ,awards ect. And any mates trying to improve their stats wont be pissed that its cut mid-campaign. (I'm deed so not I  )
But I will start a poll if you like before the topic goes cold.

The whole intention of having the stats was to have a reference to your own performance, I guess maybe we should alter the stats to only show certain sections, like dropping kills, etc. maybe just show missions alive and then possibly come up with something to reward teamwork, but then no mission log reader can help there, it would require some thought.

My two sheckles worth.

Requires thought?

.... so what were we talking about?

Ahhh yes.... Sapper's pornstar 'girlfriend'

Some guys get all the look, beautiful scenery, guns, Swedish girls in uniform and 4X4 driving all day and then p-stars waiting back home for them....

I wish I was Finnish....

I just found the thread, somehow I missed it until now (sums up my shooting too)

I've not been in a position to fly much since the new Mrs NightCat ruined my perfectly good life - so I hope I can still have a say because I do make the occasional coop and face the wrath of her who must be obeyed(sadly I don't have such control like Falcon)

Firstly stats are just awesome, its realistic (which is something we all aim for) and I personally love to check them from time to time to see how I'm doing ie ground kills and survival rate. Realism taken into account again just how many pilots during the war went for team play? I'm pretty sure a great percentage put they're own lives before the team..

Aces of the wars whom we all love and read about were only Aces based on stats, how many pilots got referred to for great team work?

When I've got a 109 zooming down on me the last thing I'm thinking is about the stats, infact during any coop I'm thinking anything but. I'm not going to hang around a target to rack up an extra kill just because there are points involved.

People have and always will scatter to the 4 winds and throw team work out the window as soon as a group of enemy fighters come on the scene stats or no stats. It's what the game is about in essence, shooting down aircraft and thats what everyone wants to do! (Of course there are acceptions to the rules but I seriously doubt removing stats will change any of that or is an answer)

I say, keep the stats - they are good... think of different ways to encourage teamplay as there are plenty.

I must disagree about the realism Wayne.

Bombers were worth 300 points in WWII.

Well actually Hitler tried to relegate them to 250 after Stalin only awarded 30 points for the T34  But Churchill (with Teddy's support) said he would make sweeping cuts to the RAF's point structure and Adolf backed down :D

Very funny guys - buts let not get hung up on the difference between "points" and "stats"

I think the point Gadje was making further up the thread was that ALL we record are individual points which means that teamplay is not encouraged - we fly the coop (note the word is short for cooperative!) as individuals rather than as a team.

I am rewriting the Stalingrad campaign coops to have two sides so in a few weeks we can establish some inter squad competition by having two teams flying against each other. Hopefully the team that flys as a team will win? Maybe that would be a good way of proving or disproving which way works? Those who prefer to fly as individuals can play one colour, those who believe team work is the way to win flys the other colour and then we see who is right?

I will start a thread in a few days giving details of plane sets and asking people to volunteer their choice of red or blue.

I'm happy to fly for any side, though we should at least split up those who are perceived to have more experience with this type of flying. Then again its all dependant on who turns up and maybe it should only be split into sides when everyones in HL and ready. I know due to work commitments I cant turn up every Sunday(no great loss for my side I know :) ).
Has the looks of an interesting debate again.

I think if we set squads at the beginning and we continue this for the duration of the campaign then you are more likely to get rivalry and real competition as to who wins the most missions, red or blue, but I am open to other ideas?

At the end of the mission we will still get the bluescreen point display, I think. I agree with Mike that 'tis better/more interesting to fly vs. Humananese, but we rarely have enough lads to fill all the slots.

And I would'nt say the AI blow; not at this point in Nellip's campaign....

Blue screen must DIE

Sadly only way is for folks to leave before host hits finish.

Excellent way for host to get offers of free beers, pink fluffy nicknacks etc for divulging points on the snide. :D

I still think the whole idea of no stats is poo..

You need to come up with a way to show how teamplay makes your stats better! :D
