I actually saw "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" yesterday on cable. I found the special effects pretty good for its day. However, I only watched the action scenes. But they had some inaccuracies in the movie. Historically, they had stripped all the defensive guns on the B-25s for weight allowance and replaced them with broomsticks to fool any Japanese fighters. They had the power turret guns in the movie.

Dont forget this movie was released in '44, they wouldnt want to show top secret broomsticks in it , would they.

Like in the Dam Busters. Bouncing bomb was still top secret then and that was made in 1954. Unfortunately the Germans found out all about it in 1943 anyways when an aircraft crashed on the raid and the bomb didn't explode...so it must be those pesky Russians they were tryig to hide it from

De-classified in 62 I think. Knew one old timer who machined the casings at Vickers; as shown in the film it took a few attempts to get it right.
