Oh! Gran Canaria!

...

It took me a min, well a few days but that's a very beautiful place I hear.

Tall mountains, deep valleys, mystic ruins, the majestic larch ...

So, is it all that then?

The tourist areas are a nightmare in every way imaginable.
The city is a badly-designed, concrete eyesore.
Most of the beaches are black, volcanic sand (except the main tourist beaches).
The locals definitely lean towards 'uneducated, fishing-village' mentality rather than 'sophisticated, cosmopolitan and cultured'.

But the mountains and countryside are beautiful, especially in late summer after a spot of rain. Very good for hillwalking, rock climbing, botany, and geology. Nothing bigger than a rabbit here though, and only a small selection of exotic birds and buzzards. There are some nice, small forests.
Tiny villages up in the mountains provide excellent, very cheap food and drink, and they tend to be more friendly than in the tourist locations. The mountains are steep and over 6000ft high (2000m). The landscape is fairly awesome; lots of volcanic layers, craters, aretes, cliffs, etc.

Nice place for a holiday if you can get away from all the brain-dead 'consumer' tourists. Try to book a hotel or villa away from Puerto Rico (Ugg!) or Playa del Ingles, and definitely rent a car so you don't get stuck in a hell-hole for the whole week by accident.

....Puerto Shitto?

I once stayed in Puerto Rico for a week or so... Rather boring place, the beach was filled with ugly, fadt, n old woman (topless :O~ ) , and there was nothing else to do than getting dizzy smoking malboro for the first time and eating flabby french fries, (was 15 or sum) was`nt old enough to get drunk either. The pools were full of shyte, well, it was a tourist hell hole indeed, didnt have a car either to get out of the way of the naked, fat , nasty, german whoremommas that had conquered the beach and... Yeah i know im mr.negative now, maybe i should go to the rage page? Yeh think so. Overall it was a quite nice holiday anyways, liked the nature, but should have stayed out of the tourist holes tho.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

Sorry for not being around for the last few weeks since signing up to FI.
I got dumped with a shed load of work on top of the two jobs I already do.
Life sucks out here when you only get paid £4 per hour; you have to spend every hour working just to scrape a living together.

I've been asked to build a website for the school I work at. Once it's up and running, the admin should not take up too much of my time, so it'll be worth the extra money I'll get per month. But at the moment I need to work on the site every night rather than play the filght sim. I suspect I won't be online much for another three weeks or so.

Hope you understand.
Don't delete my account yet!
Hope to see you in the skies soon.

We have stats?

Welcome to the squad! ^:)

I'm usually not around, as I have school work, but you should be able to find my old man Keppoch kicking around somewhere, he's on the machinery the most.
