Sound Issues
Starting a few days ago, all sound in Il2 became very muted and I have to turn my headphones all the way up to hear anything at all. The headphones work fine when using any other program such as ROF or when listening to music. I have the volume in game turned all the way up, as well as in windows volume control and in the realtek control panel software. Only in Il2 has the sound become very faint. Any ideas?

Re: Sound Issues
Do you notice any increase in IL-2 once you maxxed out the in-game sound?
conf.ini?
Did you somehow enable the wrong SOund Card in your IL-2 Setup?
Selective Hearing Loss?

Re: Sound Issues
Here are the sound settings from my config.ini;
[sound]
SoundUse=1
SoundEngine=1
Speakers=0
Placement=0
SoundFlags.reversestereo=0
RadioFlags.Enabled=0
RadioEngine=2
MusicVolume=1
ObjectVolume=14
MusState.takeoff=1
MusState.inflight=1
MusState.crash=0
MusFlags.play=0
MasterVolume=14
Attenuation=17
SoundMode=0
SamplingRate=1
NumChannels=2
SoundExt.occlusions=0
SoundFlags.hardware=1
SoundFlags.streams=1
SoundFlags.duplex=1
SoundExt.acoustics=0
SoundExt.volumefx=1
SoundFlags.voicemgr=0
SoundFlags.static=1
VoiceVolume=11
Channels=2
SoundExt.extrender=0
SoundFlags.bugscorrect=0
SoundSetupId=8
ActivationLevel=0.02
Preemphasis=0.85
RadioLatency=0.5
AGC=1
PTTMode=1
SoundFlags.UseRadioChatter=0
SoundFlags.AutoActivation=0
RadioFlags.PTTMode=0
RadioFlags.PlayClicks=0
ActLevel=0
MicLevel=0
SoundFlags.forceEAX1=0
If I turn the headphones and the objects sound all the way up, I can barely hear sounds in Il2.
I have onboard realtek audio, which is working fine otherwise. I am using custom settings in il2 setup and I always have. Realtek is not on the list of sound cards in the game.

Re: Sound Issues
I updated the sound drivers, and that seems to have fixed it.

Re: Sound Issues
The problem has returned, and since I am using the latest drivers I can't update. It seems to happen after using TS3 and ROF. If I go back to il2, the sound is very faint and stays that way.

Re: Sound Issues
I "solved" it by uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers. I sure don't want to have to go through this every time I switch between ROF and il2.

Re: Sound Issues
By any chance are you using that "reduce game volume when someone is speaking" in TS3? When I tried that feature it caused my ROF sounds to become very low. Even at 100% ROF was too low to properly hear. Could this be the problem?

Re: Sound Issues
I just checked and I don't have that enabled. It only affects il2, and it only seems to have happened after playing ROF online while using TS3, so I do suspect that one or the other is resetting something. All my game and config settings in il2 are unchanged, though.

Re: Sound Issues
Is this onboard sound or a seperate card ?
I had an issue similar to this and I solved it by disabling the built in sound. I think it was conflicting with the Creative card. Another thing to check is that you aren't using audio extensions in your sound setup, again, I had one (EAX ?) enabled and that caused issues with TS.

Re: Sound Issues
It's Realtec onboard sound- I do not have a separate sound card. I will check for audio extensions though.
