You can look on those Noter:

And look this one, maybe not so nice looking, but when you put it in the case who bothers )

Maybe you didn't heard about Biostar but i have one heavily OC-ed (much faster than Asus counterpart)
running for a few years without a glitch.

With this new platform you just have to look for decent voltage regulation section,
and most of them have it because processors dont pool much power, TDP is 95 W or ~ 120 W heavily OC-ed.

Noter
was speaking with Gadje lastnight and he spoke about a new Nvidea card just released.
GTX 560ti (mid range or affordable super fast GPU)
For me this would be around £200 this looks to be more than you want to spend but i would really consider this card, for the price it's not too far off the performance of the nvidia GTX570 @ around £300.
a new mid range bigboy!
Spend a little extra and get a good card. Them old AGP cards Falcon was trying to sell u are no longer any good.

Re: New PC Buid
The card is $290, it is a tad more, but with the money saved on the different MB and Processor it's a wash. So looking like it would be a good fit. Thanks.

Re: New PC Buid
You have 800 watts and this only requires (recommends) 500 watts. As we discussed companies leave a good margin in their power estimates. For example, my GTS 240 (OEM) is recommended to have 450 watts but runs fine with a 350 watt PSU. Notwithstanding, no harm in oversizing the power, especially for future upgrades.
Don't wish to start an ATI versus nVidia debate, and have both at the moment in my laptop and desktop, but I do understand that nVidia is being better supported by the gaming industry. So you are looking at the better company in my opinion.
According to their website you are getting a Graphics Clock of 822 versus my 675, a Processor Clock of 1645 versus my 1620, and a Text Fill of 52.5 versus my 37.8. Obviously I don't know what this all means with respect to the new IL-2, but I can play ROF using medium and certain high settings with the native resolution of 1920x1080 on a Dell 23 inch wide screen monitor. Fps are solid at least offline with a fair amount of traffic.
I would go with a single card solution and wait as long as you can before purchasing the video card due to almost monthly price drops.
Matthew we were also discussing monitors. Take a peek at Dell, as they make some affordable monitors are reasonable prices. You can do better, but here is what I have been using for over a year -
http://accessories.dell.com/sna/product ... u=320-8299. They want $239.99. There are even more affordable models, plus you might be able to get the price down a bit if you call them. Seems a bit high to me.

Before you go out and buy the new sandybridge processor have a look at this

throwing another spanner in the works!

Re: New PC Buid
Well, happenstance is dictating that I wait a bit longer on the continued pc build. The 12 year old minivan's starter went out today...poof...half my pc budget gone for the repair. But looking at the last posts by Mikester fate might be on my side, eh somewhat.

Re: New PC Buid
The sandybridge processor issue only affects certain mother boards and then only those that were using the addon.
Looks like 90% of pl would be ok.
There is a good review http://www.anandtech.com/show/4142/inte ... ins-recall

Yes, very bad for intel.
But, 2 SATA ports 6 Gb/s on intel's controller are not affected,
and most of midrange boards have additional 2 ports on Marwell controller
which are also ok.
But maybe it's better to wait for march )

Re: New PC Buid
Looking at motherboards today I noticed with a lot of boards with 2X PCIE 16X they drop in speed when running in SLI or Crossfire. Example, the board I was thinking of buying (Asus P8P67 pro) will drop from 16X to 8x per card when putting in Sli or Crossfire. Not sure how much of a problem this would be but in future if I wan to add another card they won't be running as effective as they could.
Only MB I've seen that runs in true 16X when in SLi/Crossfire is:
Gigabyte P67A-UD7 Intel P67
Expensive so not sure if it's really worth shelling out an extra 100 quid.
I'll try read a bit more on this issue.

Re: New PC Buid
well so far it doesn't seem to make much difference. Having a card in 16x16 or 8x8 seems to produce similar results when benchmarked.

Graham
not sure if you've ordered your parts yet but I can't see any probs with these sata 3 drives working at full speed. The Asus P6p67 pro supports sata 3 so should run at full speed.
overclockers.co.uk a new drive due in on wednesday.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =HD-071-OC
with the price not much more than other sata 2's i've seen and speed more than double of most. I'd like to hang on. ill give overclockers a buzz and make sure they are due in on wednesday.
I've ordered everything apart from the hd.

Ta Mike
I was going to order the SSD separate from the Scan order so I'll wait too. Take me awhile to put it all together anyway.
Cheers

im just a bit worried this new HD might be coming from Japan. If so it could have a oleg 2 week delay!
Pushed the boat out and got 16gig ram im greedy!

Need to start thinking about buying ROF

Think a couple of my components comes with a free copy of that game you were on about. If so ill sent you a serial number.
