Microsoft drops WGA verification for IE7

Don't even think about it!
I tried it to resolve my IE7 issue and PC locked during install, CPU stuck at 100% and had to do a roll back to re boot.

Interesting read...
...
I read several of the submitted comments, and was surprised at the comment by an Opera user about FF being too bloated.
FF is fine if used only as downloaded. It's the added themes and extensions that really can "bloat" the initial application, as it's way too easy to browse the add-ons and snag all the nifty tools, etc. you can stand. Careful DL of only the add-ons one really needs can keep the bloat to a minimum and makes for a good compromise between features and speed.
I've tried Opera, and while it appeared to be much more secure than IE, I wasn't comfortable with the look and feel.
Most of the oddball other browsers out there are nothing more than skins for IE and are actually no better security-wise.
IE 7 sucks and is nothing more than "too little too late".
Incidentally, if MS's idea of "security" is only nags, it really isn't "security" at all, is it?
My overhaul of GS will include optimization for both IE and FF, but all my debugging is done in FF.
