Only takes one swing to calibrate though :)

I was hoping people would still be going at 10pm GMT, but alas...

WRT the version switcher, yeah, Hyperlobby doesn't have a clue what version you're using until you launch it. You can start hyperlobby, find a server, and switch before joining even. All the switcher does is copy a few key files into the main directory to trick IL-2.

No muss, no fuss.

Yes, I'm a non-existent non-entity dweeb.

But really, I was hanging around between 1900 and 1930GMT and didn't find you guys. I find joining an online session is touch and go. It's much easier to join games in progress than in Co-op.

I think the best thing is to get in teamspeak first. Then you can just ask about technical issues (you know, if you can find a moment when 8 people aren't rattling on about something gross ;))

I think the constant stream of joke is a defense mechanism, keeping lam3x0r n00bs like me from asking too many questions.

...wait...

...wait for it...

...hold it together gurk...okay...NOW

"Heywhatdothegreenyellowandredbarsmeaninhyperlobby!"

A mutual sigh from the :FI: "Who the hell's job was it to keep talking right there? I clearly passed the ball to falcon"

I'm kidding of course. Thanks for all your help, guys!

Very true, and sorry for that. Then trying to get a word in edgeways is tricky when you have a dozen people on TS.

When we converse face to face, or one to one on the telephone then we all pick up visual or audio cues, body language etc which we use to manage communication. On TS you don't get that so you just have to barge in and get on with it and shout over the babble. :D

Hey, Sneaky the pager button flashes when you get a pager message. But guess what. I just checked and NOW the button flashes. That was around 4:35 pm my time. I'm so accustomed with joining sessions with someone hosting with an IP address in which you don't have to miss the bus.
Ah, well I'll try again next time. But I did watch the track recorded by Gen and have to say you guys got fragged by those AI bombers. I noticed most of you attack bombers at the 6'O Clock positions. That's suicide. I fly high above them and dive and attack. The AI gunners usually miss most of the time.

It's no problem, of course. We use TS in racing (we just spend more time with our tongues sticking out in concentration I think) so I'm used to it.

The other thing that ruins it aside from lack of social cues is the lag. It's often a half second!

Remember when you all switched from land line to cell phone? I spent a year accidentally interrupting the person I was talking to and then cutting myself off. The timing is almost perfect for you to just start talking right when the other person's signal hits.

Can't tell time

Post by MikeVictor » Mon Feb 12, 2007 12:58 am

Well, I got my timing a bit hosed up. Came on line to play with FI today and I was entirely too late.

Does the Sunday session start at 19:30 GMT.

And where on HL, I assume a private COOP.

Regards, will try again next week.

Post by MikeVictor » Mon Feb 12, 2007 3:05 pm

No, I was trying to get my TS configured to work. Couldn't here or speak to anyone. Finally figured it out, after you had left. Later I did get online to talk to a couple FIers. Hmm , that may have been a couple days later..I forget.

See you later,

Mike
