Liked the missions last night. Mission 6 was especially fun with that insane airbase. One thing to note on that mission in particular was the placement of the front line. While the Russians did encircle the German Army, the Germans never pushed across the river. The Russians held them to within about 200 meters of the waterline.

The Stalingrad series are really looking excellent so far, keep up the great work Nellip and let me know if you need any help.

Not sure I have the difficulty level right yet. Got the feeling Greg was not too happy finding four FW's over home base on the first mission? I was just trying to emphasise that the LW had air superiority over that part of the Eastern Front and flew nearly 3 times as many sorties as the VVS. To survive these missions we need to fly together and not head for home one by one. Maybe I should tone down the AI - they were all set to Ace or Veteran?

Maybe there should have been some AAA over home base on the first mission to warn of the enemy fighters?

What do you think guys, too difficult?

Did not have time to fly the "insane" airfield mission but saw the screen shots and looked like no-one got back safe? Too much AAA? AI too tough?

More feedback welcome.

Take the point on the front line position - to be honest I have only done these very roughly - if anyone has some accurate maps of where these where positioned I am happy to correct them.

Grrrreart missions yesterday Nelli!

Maybe some AA should have been around our bases ... after all, all our bases are belong to us ... right?

The boombers flew well and kept organized with a good plan of action. I heard later that they were a wee bit unorganized during the actual attack though.

The fighters?

Gah! The fighters were a mess. We flew to the target area like a bunch of drunken albatrosses. We only occasionally kept our eyes on our ground attack mates and when we made it to the target area we flew off in ten different directions in search of glory, a nice tree to hide behind or a good landmark. I didn't see much wingman tactics or plan of attack at all.

IF we were to have gotten our act a wee bit together, THEN we could have held up better in a darn well designed mission.

I think we need to concentrate on two ac element tactics. We need an en route, approach, CAP and return plan.

Other than that, I had a flippin' blast.

It was great fun!

To bad my W..ingman skills (hopes I'm typing that foreign phrase correctly) weren't up to snuff. I was either too far in front, or too far behind the fighter dudes to really be effective, and when I did "see" action I was usually getting bounced because I flew toward what ended up to be an enemy after losing all of my fighter wing.

At one point, after valiantly losing my aileron, I decided to RTB, then decided to fly back and try to help my mates, then to RTB again, and finally to help... at that point, most everyone was down, firing from their crash site, or an AI friendly.... so I crashlanded my LA5 in a semi friendly airfield.

I'm sure you lads had fun nonetheless. While enjoying Genosse's latest images it reminded me of one of our missions last week in Normandy 1942. It went rather south too.

Funny (but not) how things can be going along well then you hit a tough mission as a group.

How was that mission with the snow? I wish Oleg would reduce the wind effect so we could enjoy more inclement weather.
